The answer was exactly as she had predicted, which made Wynn give a raspy chuckle, her tail wagging ferociously behind her. For some reason, the other didn't seem to be too fond of humans. Wynn didn't know why, but wasn't going to question it. Perhaps her owners were abusive or really loud and annoying. Maybe she had never been around many humans and just didn't know. Wynn didn't know what her story was and really didn't care. Instead, at the comment of the store, Wynn gave a crooked grin, letting out a small chuckle. "I thought you might say that!" she barked, taking a few short steps closer to her companion.
"The store is just right now the road. The wool is super soft, trust me." she babbled, turning to head towards the door of the station. Before she said anything else, she let herself look outside, watching the world under the white moonlight. "If your lucky, there will be food on the shelves. Not sure if the humans took that with them." she continued, knowing that half of what she said was totally unnecessary and possibly annoying to the other dog, but Wynn wasn't worried about that. Wynn wasn't really worried about anything at the moment. She turned her head back for a moment, her collar rubbing against her neck. "You coming?"

Tavern shrugged. "I guess I am. I have no where else to go." She replied, standing up. Shaking the dust from her pelt, she trotted out the door and onto the road. It was dark out now, but the moon shown on the little part of town enough for the two canine's to find their way to the store. Looking back at the Station, she took in the location a little just to know where it was before waiting for Wynn. Her black and gray pelt seemed silvery in the light but not gorgeous as some write in books that people's hair shines in the moonlight and that they look like gods and goddesses.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=background,http://i48.tinypic.com/2qsxw5w.png] [scrolly:h(440),w(240),sy]Wynn stood at the door for a moment, looking back at the dog who had still not revealed her name and was therefore still a stranger. However, Wynn was trusting the larger dog, leading her to the grocery store, a place where the dog could sleep comfortably on wool that Wynn worked hard to help her humans make. That was the way it worked, wasn't it? She herded the sheep and got them where they needed to be, so she technically had a part in the wool that was sitting in the grocery store, unused. The thought made her grin slightly, watching as the stranger walked ahead of her, glancing back to silent urge Wynn forward. At her remark at having nowhere to go, Wynn frowned slightly, but wasn't that how most dogs were in this town? How all dogs were? They were lost without their humans. The ones who didn't have humans in the first place were lost without the people to leave food laying around for them to eat. They were all lost, in a way.
"Well you'll have a place to stay tonight." Wynn barked to her, her white tipped tail wagging frantically behind her as she strode confidently down the street in front of the dog. "You have to at least tell me your name first, though. I need to know what to call you." she glanced back at the larger dog, whose fur looked like it was filled with more grey tones under the moonlight. Wynn winked happily, continuing down the street. Above was a worn out wooden store with a porch similar to the station they were just at. The door was barely open, so when Wynn climbed up on the porch, it was easy for her to push the door open. Inside were shelves stocked with things such as food and necessities like materials for sewing clothes. "Right over here." she mumbled, leading the larger dog to a shelf towards the left. There was only one problem. The wool was stacked on a shelf much higher than Wynn could reach.[/scrolly] |

Tavern nodded, then followed. At her mention of a name, she chuckled a little. Approaching the porch, she jumped up easily. After all, she was a breed of dog that climbed trees! Seeing Wynn stare at the wool on a shelf just out of her reach, Tavern grinned. Jumping up onto her hind legs, she placed one paw on the shelf, then the other before reaching for the wool. Grabbing just a little with the smaller front teeth she had, she moved one paw down to dangle in the air while she reached her head further to grab the chunk. Turning her head, she let it drop down to the ground before setting her forepaws on the ground. "My name's Tavern, by the way." The Catahoula mused with a grin.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=background,http://i48.tinypic.com/2qsxw5w.png] [scrolly:h(440),w(240),sy]Wynn stared at the wool just above her reach with golden brown eyes that shone dimly in the shadows. There were only a few windows and the little bit of moonlight that shone in hardly reached where they were standing. It would be good for the young dog who needed to rest. She'd be able to sleep in the darkness at least, though that was hardly a luxury. The border collie stepped back with a tiny gasp as the other stepped in front of her, reaching up on her hind legs to stand at a height that Wynn wouldn't be able to reach even in her dreams. A tiny wave of jealousy washed over her, but was over-ridden by awe as the dog reached the wool with her jaws. The wool instantly came down to the floor with one simple twist of the dog's neck, which she used to pull the wool off of the shelf.
"Well, gee! I wish I could do that!" Wynn stated obnoxiously, grinning stupidly as the dog introduced herself as Tavern. "Nice to meetcha, Tavern!" she barked, standing there for a moment, before looking down at the wool. "Hmm... I'm sure there's food around her somewhere, too." she stated, licking her nose to wet it down before beginning to move around the grocery store. She stayed close to the shelves, her golden brown eyes scanning for items such as food that Tavern might want in the morning. "Mmm... How about this... and this." she grabbed a sack of something that smelled nice and a can of meat, she assumed. It would be rather tricky to get into, but it would be totally worth it. "Here ya go." she barked, making her way back to Tavern and dropping the food at her paws.[/scrolly] |

Tavern watched the expressions flash across Wynn's face, then grinned a little. "If you found that intriguing, I shall keep my other aspects to myself." She mused lightly with a touch of humor. As she brought over a sack and a can, Tavern licked her maw. Thrusting her nose into the sack, she sniffed around a little. Wheat. Pulling out, she pawed at the wheat lightly, making it spill out like guts on a corpse. Smiling a little, she nosed through the lightly colored substance before pulling back once more with a wrinkled nose. "Salt."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=background,http://i48.tinypic.com/2qsxw5w.png] [scrolly:h(440),w(240),sy]Wynn watched the bad hit the floor, making a strange sound and telling her that there was most likely wheat in the bag, or perhaps sugar. The can hit the ground with a crack, denting the end of the can but not breaking it. Tavern would most likely be able to easily get into the can, considering the size of her jaws. If Wynn could do it, Tavern could definitely do it. At the humorous remark that the larger dark dog made, Wynn let the ends of her lips curl up in a smile. "Oh, feel free to share!" she replied in a raspy voice, letting out a chuckle as she continued to wag her tail.
As Tavern dug into the bag, Wynn was curious to know what was in the bag. She was pretty sure it was wheat, but she couldn't be sure. When a tiny bit spilled out of the top of the bag, Wynn grinned, seeing that her prediction was correct. However, when Tavern pulled her nose out and murmured "Salt." Wynn frowned. "Well, that just won't do, will it?" she murmured, glancing around the store. "I'm sure there's more in here. That canned stuff is pretty good, so long as you can get it open. I'm sure you can." she barked, shaking out her fur as she looked down to the wheat with her golden brown eyes. The dented can was laying on it's side at Tavern's paws. It would be just as good as catching a rabbit, though the meat might be a tad bit colder. Wynn knew how good it was cooked, but she no longer had that luxury. Letting out a breathe, she glanced back up to Tavern. [/scrolly] |

Tavern absently nodded to each word Wynn said, her amber eyes trained on the bag. Sucking in a breath, she sniffed around inside again to find some meat at the bottom. Pulling it out quickly, she barked happily. "Meat!" She barked, then licked it to see what it might taste like. Letting out a cough, the Catahoula left her tongue to hang a little. "Dry and salty." Tavern rasped, then looked at the can. "How do you suppose we open some thing like that?" Her tone quizzical as she looked down at Wynn.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=background,http://i48.tinypic.com/2qsxw5w.png] [scrolly:h(440),w(240),sy] Wynn stared at the can for a moment with curious golden brown eyes. Her humans used them all the time and, while they were hard to open, with the right amount of jaw-power, they could be open. Wynn had opened one just the other day, in fact, but unfortunately the meat had been bad and Wynn had gotten sick. She tried not to think about it and instead gave Tavern a glance as she licked the can, coughing at the taste which she described salty and dry. The old border collie let out a chuckle, glancing down at the can. She thought about making some comment about how you weren't supposed to lick the can but decided against it, instead just giving the dark colored dog a grin as she listened to her next question.
Wynn let her lips pull back in a puzzled expression, though it quickly disappeared because she knew exactly what to do. "Well, you have to bite it really hard and it should come open." she explained, taking the can up into her jaws. Not wasting another moment, she bit down on the can as hard as she could, her eyes squinting as she pushed all of her might into breaking the can. However, the can was stronger than she was. Sighing, she let the can fall to ground and saw the dents she'd left in the side. "You try, I bet you could get it." she told the other dog, giving her an encouraging smile as she sat down, rolling back on her dark haunches and wrapping her white tipped tail around her paws similarly to how a cat would. Of course, she'd learned it from the cat that hung around the barn. Grinning, Wynn looked between Tavern an the stubborn can.[/scrolly] |

Tavern nodded, just watching. As she dropped the can on the hard floor, Tavern just stared at it before nodding. Taking the can in her jaws, she tipped her head back to get it on her back molder teeth before starting to bite down. The dents Wynn made helped and soon she tasted the juice spilling into her mouth from the punctured holes. Setting down the can, her pink spotted tongue lapped at the juice before picking up the can and trying to bite it open again. This time, she had the top, may be the bottom, she didn't know, and was trying to open it.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=background,http://i48.tinypic.com/2qsxw5w.png] [scrolly:h(440),w(240),sy] Wynn could tell when Tavern finally split the can open, or at least punctured it. She set the can down and licked some of the juice off of the can near where she had finally broken through the holes. Wynn grinned, her tail wrapping around her paws like the cat that played in her yard used to do. The suspense was killing her... or perhaps that was her excitement that she had finally met someone who hadn't been a total jerk to her. "You've got this. That can has nothin' on you!" she barked, her voice cheerful and full of energy, reguardless of the fact the sun had already gone down and the bright light of the moon was revealing itself. Of course, soon Wynn would need to try to make her way back home to her warm bed, but for now, she was content in the general store with Tavern.
Wynn watched intently as Tavern took the can back up into her mouth, this time taking it by one of the ends. If she bit down hard enough, the can would crack under the pressure and open, at least partly, enough for the contents inside to come spilling out. It would make and excellent and relatively easy meal, so long as she didn't mind getting a little sticky, but that could easily be washed off with a few licks or, if it was stubborn, a trip to the lake. No biggey.[/scrolly] |

Tavern snapped her jaws together the best she could, then heard a crack and a pop. The can was open! Setting it down, she licked her teeth to get the metal taste away when she tastes another metallic taste. Opening her mouth a little, she licked away at her tooth until the blood stopped, which wasn't that long. Laying down, she placed a paw on the can before thrusting her snort inside to eat some of the meat.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=background,http://i48.tinypic.com/2qsxw5w.png] [scrolly:h(440),w(240),sy] Wynn listened carefully, as the world around her was completely silent, aside from the sounds of the can crushing in the dark dog's mouth. Her furry black ears perked as she heard the crack of the top breaking under pressure, followed by a pop that was the top breaking away from the can. Satisfied, Wynn let the ends of her dark lips curve up into a smile. "There ya go!" she barked, her voice cheerful and full of energy that she was running out of. She needed to get back to her comfortable bed, where she knew she was safe and sound.
"I need to get back home." she murmured finally, watching happily as Tavern lapped at the meat inside of the can. The elderly border collie lifted her furry tail, waving it around like a flag. "It was very nice meeting you. Take care of yourself." she barked gently, giving Tavern a glowing smile before she turned away from her new friend. Quietly, she snuck out of the general store, content with leaving Tavern in a place full of food and wool. It was a very nice place to live. In fact, that's where Wynn would be if she didn't have her own home. Grinning like an idiot, she slipped out into the moonlight, beginning her long journey home, where she would then rest her eyes until the next lonely day.[/scrolly] |
