He had finally settled somewhere for good, he had found an abandoned house on the side of the road that no other dogs seemed to inhabit. Oh the cleverness of me. he thought to himself, almost as gleefully as a pup. But he remained calm on the outside, glancing around his surroundings as he lay on a dusty couch, occasionally a bit of dust got up inside his nostrils and he would sneeze a time or two. But he was OK, nothing big, just a couple sneezes now and then. At the sound of something being knocked over outside, he thought Oh goody, company. His bad leg he kept as still as possible as his head lifted to look to see who the visitor was.

Anabiel swore under her breath as the potted plant fell to the ground, leaving red-brown clay pieces. So much for trying to be silent. And she was, normally. She just hadn't seen the potted plant. Anabiel shook the dirt from her paws with a small shudder of disgust and climbed in through the window. Her slender limbs supported the weight of her landing. She lifted her nose to the air. There was another dog. Excellent. Her stomach rumbled in hunger as her nails clicked across the floor. The element of surprise was no longer in her favor, so Anabiel would just have to make due.
