Save me from this ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME
Hazy heat waves danced upon the gravel. The heat was heading towards sweltering and so the Doberman brute once again found himself searching for cover. This time, it was much more vacant than the Old Mine had been. The train station was utterly silent as he pranced along the railroad, tongue panting in the stagnant air.
His long legs carried him swiftly and nimbly over to a large black train engine. He trotted up the stairs, toenails clicking momentarily on the metal. He winced as his toes burned a bit, the metal had sucked up the sun’s rays quite effectively. He pushed his way into the cabin through the door and sighed when the cool darkness hit him. He knew it would not stay cool much longer, there were no open windows and the engine would become an oven. But for now, he lay down on the cool wooden floor and sighed.
He was lonely. And that never happened when he wasn’t having one of his inexplicable depressive episodes. He wasn’t having one now, and that was why the thought surprised him. With a sigh, Admiral stretched out onto his side, head and chin resting on the floor. His yellow-green eyes remained trained on the door. One didn’t become prince of an entire city without constantly checking over their shoulder.
But damn the irritating loneliness. Admiral blamed his entirely normal mood on the fact that he hadn’t had contact with a canine in a full week. Unless one counted the one he had tussled with just for the hell of it, ending the boring fight with a quick but fatal neck bite, Admiral hadn’t had a conversation for two.
And so, the Doberman mix found himself humming nonsense and glancing around the train from his splayed-out position. On his side, he could only see everything through one eye. That one eye took in everything, all while making sure the entrance remained visible. There was a rather interesting crack in the ceiling. He wondered how it had gotten there and then smiled at himself. Making up stories now? The least you could do is make up battle strategies.
Properly chastised, Admiral let his mind wander of the immense mind-drawer of battle plans and maneuvers drilled into him since birth. Admiral came from a life not many knew. His father had been the iron-fisted ruler of the only pack in the town he grew up in. Admiral hadn’t been the first chosen heir, because his bitch of a mother had been the loosest female to walk on two-legs. But he had quickly shown just how well he was capable of manipulating and controlling an army of brutes.
So his skilled and calculating mind started making up scenarios and counteracting them with maneuvers that ranged from complicated drills designed for seven or more dogs down to a single canine. Of course, this single canine was him. He seemed a bit spaced-out, and he was, put his ears remained forward and his one opened eye never left the door. Alegría loped along the hot gravel, her paws near burning each time she took a step. Her tongue lolled out the side of her mouth, her half-folded ears flopping against her cranium with each swift step. The fae hummed softly to herself, flanks rising and falling with the rhythm of her breaths, and the femme danced a couple pawsteps, her tail wagging despite the oppressive heat. The fae was used to such heat. After living in Spain, which was closer to the equator than the United States were, was always hotter, in most places, that is. The Spaniard smiled gently, the warm, too warm sun blazing down upon her back, only her short layer of brindle fur offering limited protection. But she didn’t mind, it was a relief from the cold of Autumn, Winter, and Spring. She loved the heat, the desire for cool bathes in lakes and ponds, or even the large porcelain containers humans liked to call bathtubs, or something along those lines. She loped towards the train yard, eager for a bit of exploration to fill her day. And since it’s hot, the fae knew that not many canines would brave the scorching sun and heat to do much of anything, therefor leaving her day wide open to do whatever she wished without fear of aggression. Joy moved onwards, humming in the back of her throat, even as she panted. Her lithe limbs carried her swiftly to the train yard, and soon enough the massive hulking locomotives came into sight, and sooner still she was crossing the metal tracks and towards a large black train engine. It was by far the largest among the rest, and the most impressive, having stood the best test of time, and survived to live another day with minimal to no rust. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier looked up at the massive machine, her eyes widening slightly in awe and admiration. It was extremely large, far larger than her own size, showing just how easy it would be to lose one’s life beneath the carriage of such a creation, or even when exploring its features. Shaking off the apprehension, the femme padded around the outside of the locomotive, her muzzle close to the ground, taking in the scents surrounding it before she aspired to enter the black machine. Joy craned her head back, nimble mind scanning for ways up. Finding the set of stairs leading upwards, the fae took them to reach the platform and then looked around, her tail continuing to wag full speed, something that was rather commonplace for the gentle Staffie. Alegría heard a low humming of nonsense, and then silence but for the soft breathing of another canine. All this was registered as the fae took her first few steps into the engine room, and saw the large male lying upon the ground, still but for the near constant movement of his one opened eye. Shivering slightly she shied back a bit, dipping her head lower. ”I’m sorry, Señor, I did not see you there.” She said, holding still, wary of making any sudden movements that would provoke any sign of violence or aggression in the larger male. The last thing she wanted was to have him chasing her, or worse, hurting her. Words: 544 Notes: None~ Muse: Great! Tune: None. Save me from this ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME Admiral yawned, the sound almost ricocheting off the walls that surrounded him. If he could, he would have popped his lips. Instead, he sighed and tried thinking of any other battles he could encounter here that might take an effort. He hadn’t been here long but even so, he could already tell that there were not many dogs here like him. For the simple fact that most of him was muscle covered in scars, others could tell he hailed from somewhere they didn’t call home. Dogs fought here, and he had thrashed a few already, but it wasn’t as consuming here as it had been back in his home. It was strange to know that not every dog he met was ganging for a fight the moment they made eye contact.
It was also strangely nice. He could lie here semi-unprepared and be just fine. No soldier looking to improve his ranks would attack him slyly from behind. They would come from the front and his ears were experienced enough to know when steps met a calm stranger or assassin. He almost sat up then, his ears picking up the sounds and hummings of a dog. His lips curled into a smile and he forced himself to stay down as the dog continued on in.
His eyebrows rose at the sight of her. She appeared startled, taking a step back and ducking her head as she spoke. He didn’t miss the Spanish lilt to her words and that almost somehow made her delectable. He remained lying on his side, a look of utter boredom on his visage. He looked at her, eyebrows raised. “ No se preocupe, señorita. It is hot out today; I’d be stupid to think no one else would venture here.” . His tone let her know what he thought about being stupid. Admiral had an ego, but it presented itself differently than most other males did. He exuded confidence to the nth degree and expected others to notice it. If that was an ego, so be it. He sat up, slowly, a small smile playing at his lips. She was a small thing, but by her build he was guessing a fighting terrier of some kind, he was leaning towards Staffordshire. She didn’t act like all the others he had seen, but of course, granted those had been males trying to tear his throat out for his thrown. She did look scared. That was part of the reason he had touched up on his Spanish skills. He knew quite a bit, after all, one of his mentor’s had hailed from Spain. Luchar had spoken little English, but Admiral still claimed he was nowhere near fluent. He figured if he spoke in her native tongue, that might have calmed her down a bit. He was too bored to let her run away.. [/blockquote] [/div] WORDS 505 TAGGED COPPER NOTES Ran outta steam there, sorry TEMPLATE BY WE WERE INFINITE ! OF CAUTIO 2.0

Alegría saw that the larger male was well covered in scars, and that he had clearly experienced much in his lifetime. Something she could see came at a price. Her tail stilled, and she knew that this male was not one to mess around with, especially since he seemed to be lazing, and yet ready to attack at a moment’s notice. The fae repressed a shiver at the sheer bulk of the mixed breed, how his muscles were nearly as imposing as his overall aura around him. Shaking her head slightly, she backed up a little further, and then sat back on her haunches, crimson caramel eyes warming with the prospect of the male being friendly. He didn’t rise when she found him, though his ears perked. The brute seemed bored as he looked at her, brows raised. Nothing prepared her for when he spoke, however. “No se preocupe, señorita. It is hot out today; I’d be stupid to think no one else would venture here.” He said, his tone letting her know he didn’t think highly about being stupid, clearly he was not, even with his ego. Watching him quietly, the Spaniard’s tail began to wag slowly once more, her ears perking up with a delight in meeting another who seemed to know at least a little of her home language. His confidence inspired a bit of her own from within, and the dainty fae smiled brightly, eyes lighting up as she thought to reply. ”Gracias Señor, I do not want to be a bother.” She said sweetly, her tone warm and kind, and while some may think her too sweet, she really wasn’t on purpose, it was her nature. The male sat up slowly, a small smile forming on his lips. The smile, however small, gave her a bit of hope as to his reaction, his mood. ”I’m Alegría. It’s nice to meet you Señor….?” She chirped, her tail thumping against the ground happily, her overall joyous persona shining through as always. Joy looked up at him, smiling hopefully, head cocking to the side as she eyed him. He was intimidating, for sure, but she wasn’t sure what to think of him yet, at least not until she’d truly had a chance to learn of his personality. The fact that he had spoken with manners was a plus, but it could mean nothing really. Words: 396 Notes: None. Muse: Good. Tune: None. Save me from this ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME
Admiral’s earlier deduction was correct. The female shrunk back at the sight of him and her ears flickered backwards. However, it appeared that once his vocals reached her she relaxed. His lips quirked as her tail betrayed her relaxation. It was amusing, actually, that simple words spoken in a familiar language seemed to lessen her rightful wariness of him. Another day, he might have expanded on that fear, re-honing his manipulation skills into terrifying her. But there was something so innocent about the brindle female that made him hold off from doing that.
He cocked his head as she spoke, hoping it gave him a friendlier appearance. He was so bored he was about to beg her to stay. But she seemed to think it was alright on her own. She spoke to him and he again was surprised at how strong her accent was. Her tones were sweet and in any other dog he would have thought it fake. But her tail thumped and she continued talking. He answered, “At this point, I’d crave an idiot blabbering. You, muchacha bonita, I take are not a blabber nor an idiot.” He gave himself a shake, sending a few particles off dust into the air. He looked back at her and answered, “Admiral.” There was no doubting the pride in which he said his name. Back home, he had virtually been a prince and that aura still surrounded him. He had no qualms in using it to get what he wanted from anyone. He hoped it didn’t scare her off, so he settled himself back down onto his elbows. It made him stay at her eye-level. Alegría tipped her head to the side, her gaze curious even as she shrunk from him, ears flicking backwards ever so slightly. She wasn’t out for trouble, she just didn’t want to cause any sort of conflict, nor did she want to appear anything akin to dominant. The fae wasn’t dominant, though she had been known to stand up for herself on occasion. Nonetheless it wasn’t in her best interests to be challenging, this she knew easily. She still relaxed once his words reached her ears, their lilting vocals serving to allay some of her tensions, as if she trusted this male not to hurt her, at least not without cause. The male cocked his head as she spoke, and she found it gave him a friendlier appearance, perhaps as he had hoped it would. The femme returned with her own highly accented words of speech, tail wagging continuously, tone sweet in a purely natural way. “At this point, I’d crave an idiot blabbering. You, muchacha bonita, I take are not a blabber nor an idiot.” The male said in reply, giving a shake to his pelt as she smiled brightly, eyes sparking with happiness. First impressions were everything, as she knew well, and she was glad that her impressions hadn’t been ‘blabbering’ or ‘idiot’. A relieving thought for sure. The larger canine looked back at her and answered, “Admiral.” Pride in his voice as he spoke his formidable name. No doubt he’d intimidated his fair share of canines alike with just his name alone, along with his confident, dangerous appearance. The male settled back onto his elbows, bringing him to eye-level with her, something she appreciated greatly. ”It is my pleasure to meet you, Sr. Admiral~” She chirped happily, plopping on her rear with an adorable tilt to her head. Save me from this ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME It was getting hot even inside the large tankard of an engine. Admiral accounted that to the fact that it was as black as his own coat. He didn’t know why, but his coat sucked up all the heat in the sky and then retained it until it felt like his insides were baking. For now, he was alright, laying here with his belly touching the cool metal. Of course, he did have company, to that kept the sleepy boredom away. For now. Because she was a quiet thing, he didn’t think she’d be much more interesting than any other encounter he’d had before. Save Roulette. That thought made him almost smirk, before he reined it in. He didn’t want to scare her away, yet.
He did offer a small smile as she relaxed. She seemed to take his compliment well. Good. That made him glad. He hated it when he deigned to give one and the other canine simply didn’t hear it. He looked over her once more. She was a small, but stout terrier. Probably some bully breed, much like the father Admiral had never met. His own ‘father’, the king of the pack in Chicago he had grown up in, had been a collie. He never knew the male that had given him such a formidable chest and admirable jaw strength. But back to the femme in front of him. She was timid, that was for sure, but he felt it was more from a smart brain than anything else. If he was that short and probably didn’t have any fighting skills, seeing him would put any dog on the defensive. He didn’t see the point in lying and pretending he wasn’t dangerous. He very well could be if he wanted to. Like now, it would take one explosive move and two paws centered on her face and shoulder to knock her down and leave a nice piece of her neck bare for his dangerous jaws.
But that was all under different circumstances, of course. She was a bit too naïve at the moment to be any sort of threat. Admiral smirked as she replied, that wonderful tilt to her head was a bit adorable, in a puppy kinda way. It reminded him of Jerome. Jerome, the only one that had been his friend for a while now, the little lab had had the same habit and same naivety. Of course, Jerome also saw the world differently. So much so that Admiral had strived to make himself a good role model for a pup that wasn’t his own. He’d failed, of course, which was why he was traveling around now. “How did you get here, to Saddle Creek, Alegria?” [/blockquote] [/div] WORDS 543 TAGGED COPPER NOTES So sorry for the wait!!
