You cannot contain me with a million steel bound chains
Name: Asmita
Age:Five and a half years old
Gender: Female
Breed: Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever
Appearance:
Asmita is striking. With thick and long striking reddish-gold fur that she keeps relatively clean, she’s noticeable. She’s tall, standing around 53’ centimeters at the shoulder. She is muscled, but it is stream-lined and her body is noticeably built for swimming, she has a deep chest and heavy bone structure. Her legs make up most of her height and her body is long, and her tail bushy. She’s a very compact and beautiful female.
But the most striking fact is something others don’t notice immediately. Her floppy ears hide the striking scar that tears across her murky white right eye and across her white nose to prick at the corner of her left amber eye. She is entirely blind on her right side and has difficulty seeing out of her left. It’s hard to tell that unless one sees the tell-tale murky white she normally keeps diverted. But it is evident in the many scars that dot her front legs and the controlled and precise way in which she moves, but many just mistake it for gentle care.
Personality:
Stubborn would be one of the first traits someone would notice about Asmita. She has an extremely strong will and a quick mind and tongue to match. She’s fiery and near impossible to control. She refuses to allow someone to control her and despises those that try to flirt with her and will be quick to remind them just how strong her teeth are. Part of this overly strong will stems from being partially blind. She goes out of her way to prove to others she is just fine without help and will snark at any one that says otherwise. Don’t dare this femme into doing something, she’ll do it. If you were to bet, never bet against her.
Cold. Asmita isn’t a socializer, but she doesn’t go out of her way to scare others off. She just seems to hold everyone out at arms-length and that is often misconstrued as being aloof and standoffish. There’s some truth in that. She doesn’t trust at all and it takes a lot to earn it from her. However, once it is given she has a fierce heart for those she loves. That strong-will is transferred to a deep love for her family and friends.
Asmita does have a temper and it is most often expressed by her tongue. That doesn’t mean she isn’t a fighter. Her teeth have served her well and she isn’t afraid of who they land on. This is often seen as overconfidence and ego, but it is simply bravery. She can hardly see and she refuses to allow that to stop her.
But, all this is something new to her. She used to be and still can, on occasion, be cowed. It takes a much larger and ferocious dog to stop her strong heart and make bravery go cold, but it does. She won’t ever admit it, but sometimes she can be outdone and abused, no matter how strong she seems.
History:And her past is at fault for that. Born into a home that bred Nova Scotia’s in Canada, she was sold to a home in Montana. She barely remembers her life there, but something disastrous happened to her family and she was forced out into the streets at the tender age of one year. Much of her time there is hidden away in the recesses of her mind, unimportant and therefore not remembered.
Except she can’t forget Maximus. A large Rottweiler mix, he first appeared to her as a helpful friend. For years, they traveled together and she couldn’t help but fall in love with him. He was large and ferocious, but only towards the ones that threatened her. To her, his gruff voice uttered sweet words and she believed him. That was nearly a deadly mistake. Only after the veil of love had descended over her eyes did he reveal his true self. He was jealous and she often got snapped at if a brute looked her way and she did anything that could be construed as accepting it. She dismissed these tiny snaps, he was a tough dog. She didn’t realize how deeply he had ensnared her until the night he forced her. She had done everything, but he had changed into an evil version of himself and hurt her badly. To make it worse, she found out a few weeks later she was pregnant.
That was the beginning of the end. She had always been a bit of a fiery and spirited gal, but with the knowledge that she would be bringing puppies into a world that was entirely controlled and surrounded by a demon of a dog, she formed a plan.
Every chance she got, she snapped back. At first, Maximus seemed to attribute her angrier and snappier version of herself as a pregnant dog’s moods swings. Asmita herself was surprised to find that she was more comfortable as this stronger-willed and fiery dame. Maximus did not. He tried controlling her, which earned him an earful and a hide full of punctures.
It was not her best idea. He was larger, she had never had to fight before. She went too far one night, and even now, she does not regret it. Maximus, enraged, attacked her with all his skill. It left her with a miscarriage and the scar that nearly blinded her completely.
She doesn’t remember how she survived, but she did. There’s no way of knowing her story, just the outcome. She is blind completely in her right eye and nearly in her left. But there is no denying she has flourished. Sometimes she gets depressed, but she threw herself straight into learning to become the strongest she could. She traveled the world, learning how to fight and survive with her disability until it became such a central part of her that she wouldn’t give it up.
