She is approximately twenty-three and a half inches at the withers, and weighs in at about sixty-seven healthy pounds. Her topline is lever al her neck is strong and slightly arched. As her name suggests, Giselle is both sturdy and elegant. The way her body is made is sufficient to ensure strength and endurance without sacrificing grace. Her chest is deep and not too wide. Her ribs are well-sprung, neither barrel-shaped nor slab-sided, and extend well back into a deep, powerful loin with a moderate tuck-up of flank. Her forelegs and hind legs are strong and sturdy. She carries her tail straight or fairly straight when walking, or just normal when calm or relaxed.
Apt to her breed, she has a unique coat. Her fur is a thick mass of small, tight, crisp, liver-colored curls. Her curls extend up her entire neck to the occiput, down her thigh and back leg to at least her hock, and over her entire tail. Elsewhere, her coat is short, smooth and straight, including on her forehead, face, front of forelegs, and feet. On her ears, her curls are looser and more open.
Her head is a longer-than-wide wedge, and of a size in balance with the body. The stop of her head is shallow and sloping. Her head has a nearly straight, continuous taper to the nose and is clean cut, not coarse, blocky or cheeky, although her features are well-defined. She gives off a classy, elegant, almost vintage look. Her eyes are almond-shaped, rather large but not too prominent. Giselle isn't a stone-faced girl, and her eyes are very expressive. Her emotions can be seen easily through her bewildering bright hazel eyes. [ selective mute - vivid imagination - intelligent - submissive - caring - devoted - empathetic ] Even as a pup, Giselle never spoke unless she felt the need to. The reason for this is partly due to her shyness, and partly due to the fact that she's an incredibly heavy listener. She's either deep in thought; listening intently; or is imagining unusual and unlikely situations and stories in her impossible brain. She is rather socially awkward due to being extremely cautious around others, but once you've proven your loyalty she won't ever forget it and will continue to relax a little more in your presence. When she does speak, which is very rare, she is very soft-spoken and doesn't like to raise her voice unless she needs to.
For her age, Giselle is an extremely bright individual. The way her mind functions resembles that of a sponge. She is able to absorb information at rapid rates and store it for extensive periods of time. She has a photographic memory, a gift she is very grateful for. She is often in her mind, calculating and weighing various actions. However irrational she may be at times, she often feels her mind is her greatest weapon. She is incredibly creative. Her mind is a place of wonder and grim - filled with everything from fairytales to horror stories to analytic situations to impossible ideas. She is forever thinking and forever wondering and calculating, so her mind is forever racing a hundred miles a minute. Her brain is full of thoughts and ideas that most dogs couldn't even begin to fathom, and it definitely comes in handy at the best and worst of times. Always observant and always silent, her brain is constantly ticking in just about any situation, and works incredibly quickly when she needs it to.
To go with her shyness and social awkwardness, she is not a dominant creature whatsoever. She can't stand conflict, nor can she stand being shouted at. Usually when such things happen, she curls up and makes herself as small as possible or rolls over onto her back and exposes her stomach in the canid submissive pose. Strangely enough, violence doesn't bother her as much, and if she can see a good reason to fight then she won't protest, and will always stand up for her family and friends without a single word. Surprisingly enough, she is a swift and excellent fighter, and often quite sudden and terrifying when need be.
Giselle is an incredibly empathetic creature, and is very sensitive to the feelings of others. She isn't the overly-playful excitable friendly type, but she doesn't like senseless violence or seeing anyone in pain or anguish. When she gets close enough to someone, she is incredibly sweet, and feels the need to take care of those she truly cares about. It of course takes a while to get this far with her, but once it happens she is extremely loyal, tender, and sympathetic. Giselle was just your average stray. Born in Saddle Creek, raised in Saddle Creek, abandonded in Saddle Creek. Her mother was a respected fae who had an incredibly loyal mate. Their litter was of a decent size and Giselle's siblings were just as laid back and care free as her parents. She lived out most of her life in the kennels, and just before her first birthday, she was adopted by a very odd-looking couple. The two were unlike the classier people Giselle had seen, and were far more mellow than most. They wore earthly colors, sometimes bright, and clothing that was quite different to say the least. After time, Giselle learned that these people were labeled 'hippies.' Their 'home' was an old RV. In that motorhome lived two other people―Giselle never knew what their names were. Nor did she really care to find out. It was cramped inside the RV, yes, but it was better than the kennel and that was all that mattered to her.
A year and a half Giselle had dealt with those weird people. Their living conditions weren't the best; the inside of the RV always smelled funny and medical, and the humans always acted strange and otherworldly. The day they left her was both the worst and best day of her life. Good in a way that it was relieving to be away from them, and bad that her own family had left her. It wasn't easy to get reacquainted with the street life. Socialization was awkward for her. Since she was a young pup, she never talked much, even though she knew perfectly well how to, and as she got older she got quieter and quieter. Even meeting new dogs, she remained mute, and as a result of that she got labelled a freak by most.
For Giselle, it was also hard to adjust to actually working to obtain food. Giselle had gotten so used to being with those people that she had begun to doubt her own sanity. How would she be able to survive? Could she hunt on her own? Find a place to kick it? Within a few months, Giselle had gotten to be her old self again. With one exception- her scavanging habits. Giselle had gotten so accostumed to being fed by the couple on a three time daily basis, that her hunting skills had been completely forgotten. And so, without the use of what little skills she had, Giselle has resolved to eating whatever she can find. ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○
