Name: Eagle
Age: five years old
Gender: male
Appearance: Eags is a rather tall and lean boy, standing at about 28 inches to the shoulder and weighing around 80 lbs. He has both sighthound and collie blood in him, a lurcher. He is a liver sable dog and has these soulful green eyes. His ears seem not to be able to decide whether to be folded, pricked, semi-pricked, or what. They tend to do their own thing depending on his mood. The most common carriage for his ears is when they are swept backwards. He is full of expression and is as easy to read as a book. Look close and you'll see scars on his hide. He has a bit of a limp and is missing a couple teeth, but is in rather good condition otherwise.
Personality: Eagle has but one rule to his life: If it makes a good story for later, do it. He loves to tell stories and that is his best strength if he could name only one. He tries his hardest to live a good life, but most of the time, it all falls apart because he also is a nervous and anxious boy. He loves simple things and wouldn't hurt a fly. However, there is a darkness within him that is hidden away and the dog that's left tells the stories as if it were another dog that lived them. He has put away that dark part of himself, leaving a rather dull, but sweet boy who acts very much like a puppy.
Eagle has a high threshold for frustration and it's rare to see him angry, but when he snaps, he snaps hard. He becomes a dog that, while still nervous, has a razor's wit and a cold heart, if only because the hardness of life has left him bitter. The best sign that he's in this mode is that his little tics and twitches as disappeared. He is serious and highly intelligent and disturbingly sadistic. He goes by Gully.
History: Eagle's mother was pretty much a crazy dog. She was a collie mix and his father was a collie mix, with a lot of sighthound somehow thrown in that. She was a thief and a murderer and had a great time killing other dogs. She always was a little bit on the "off" side, but the death of Eagle's father set her way over the edge and that was what started her on the darkest path. She took her puppies on that ride.
She was rather infamous. She had the scars to prove what a fighter she was and the bloodthirst to never hold back. She had no sense of honor, so didn't mind cheating or cheap tricks if that was what she had to do to win. Her puppies learned from her. Eagle only wanted to make her proud and her approval was something he thirsted over. When proud of him, she called him her little Gully-boy. He liked that.
She taught her puppies all that she knew. It was a necessity to survive since there were other dogs that would target her. She was the dog that worried the sheep where she was from and her puppies formed her pack which helped her. She injured many a working dog, killed a few, too. When the humans would shoot at her, she would run low and fast along the ground and taught her babies to do the same. If a dog found a piece of meat, then she'd kill him for it. Her puppies learned to do that as well. They stuck with her because they had nobody else and she taught them nothing about connecting with others.
They kept moving West when pushed out of the territory, when the game got too dangerous, when everyone (dog and human) wised up. As they moved, their numbers dwindled. Sometimes, a sibling would choose to go his or her own way and that was that. Eagle was the last one left, by his mother's side. He was the most nervous in disposition out of all of them and the most needy.
She met her end in a Northern part of Colorado, shot to death by a farmer who was punishing her for chasing his cattle. That left Eagle alone. At first, he tore into the cattle, the coyotes, and everything that he could lay a fang on.
Then, he grew tired and was too injured and curled up under a tree. A young female dog found him and helped him recover. She was so kind. He told himself that he could be a different dog, definitely. There was nothing tying him to the past. He repressed that dog and made a new one: Eags. He pretends his past is nothing more than a fun story to recite. He moved south because he saw men heading north, leaving Southern Colorado. He didn't trust them and found a place without humans. This was his new home.
