He walked with swiftness and ease born out of the fact that he hadn’t stopped. He couldn’t remember a time where he wasn’t moving, always walking and always heading somewhere. Where he didn’t know and if asked he would stumble out the same reason. He didn’t know, couldn’t explain where he came from or why. He didn’t know old he was and simply walked because it was what he had to do.
Thick and square nose down on the ground, he walked, breathing in every corner of the aquatic business. It was a strange place and he liked it. Shattered glass was here and there to be skirted around but other than that, he liked it. He would occasionally stop to stare at himself in the reflection of a tank. He was doing that now. Almond-shaped amber eyes stared intently at himself, trying to see past the surface. A large gray scar marred the left side of his face, up on his crown. He frowned at it. He was Adar and that was it. He didn’t know what it was there, though a female had once told him he’d got it in a fight. It seemed plausible, considering the shape and the way it looked. And his own natural affinity for them.
He wasn’t sure why, as was normal, but he liked fights. He didn’t go looking for them, but he enjoyed them more than other dogs. He turned a bit to peer at the scar and his reflection stream-lined itself, made thinner and smaller. He blinked, suddenly thinking of roses and ash. It was a familiar scent though he had never connected it to anyone. But the brief image made his chest ache. He stood up and shook himself, walking along some more. Walking, walking, always walking. But the scent lingered in the recesses of his mind, a mind he was still connecting to. It sometimes gave him things he didn’t know he had. Such as right now.
His deep bass voice was soft but he uttered the song anyway. ”Far away in sunny mountains, where the merry sunbeams play, there I wandered through the clover singing to a village maid. She was dearer than the dearest, ever loving kind and true. And she wore beneath her bonnet, amber tresses tied in blue. Fate decreed that we be parted ere the leaves of autumn fell. Then two hearts were separated that had loved each other well. She was all I had to cherish, ever-loving, kind and true. Now I see in every vision amber tresses tied in blue.”

He finished, still humming the tune. How did he know that? His strong face fell for a moment, confused. It was a familiar emotion, a constant state that he just stood up and walked a bit more around the business. In his head he kept repeating the last line. The amber part was what sparked a strange vision on his mind. Perhaps he knew an amber female? He wasn’t sure and shook his head, sighing. How was it possible not to know? How old was he? Was he still a puppy or full-grown? How was he to know?
He lay down with a sigh, licking at his sore feet. They were roughened by the road and one had cracked. He hadn’t noticed, so used to the pain of broken pads was he, that he just washed it with his tongue and moved on. But he was tired and his eyes kept reaching together for a nap. He let them.------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amount: 575 Words. Notes: First Adar post! Whoot! Muse: It’s okay, not the best. Amber tresses tied in blue. It wasn’t the blue part that was bothering him, he realized in that state of mind where one is resting half asleep and half-awake. His mind wandered but it didn’t, since it didn’t have very far to wander. He kept smelling that scent and catching those amber eyes. Eyes he had never seen before. At least, none that held that sense of belonging that he somehow thought these possessed.
It was things like that that made him grit his teeth. He knew nothing of his life before that weird day a year and a half ago. He knew his name was Adar, that he was a fighter and had no family tying him down, no matter what strange femmes proclaimed. But even then, sometimes, like this, he found himself confused. Where were these flashes coming from, if not from memory?
He straightened upright rather abruptly, ears flopping for a moment as he blearily blinked awake. He had heard something, or rather someone. The sounds of paws padding quietly in the building. He cocked his head, trying to place the sounds and finally landed his almond eyes upon a golden femme. He watched as she approached. It was obvious that he wasn’t exactly sure what to do, part of him was angled away to get a better head-start should he need to run, while the other half was puffed-up and ready for a challenge. As she stopped and asked him a question, his ears flickered. He hadn’t expected that. Her question surprised him more. She had heard him?
”I don’t know.”

he answered plainly, his voice a monotone. He looked down at her slightly from his perch on a raised platform. She was staring at him rather inquisitively and his hackles raised out of instinct. What did she want? She wasn’t about to claim to know him too, was she? He scooted back a bit, eyes turning to slits which he glared at her with.
He wasn’t sure if her behavior was normal or not. That was the basis behind the pull-away he was maneuvering. He didn’t want her to think he was easy prey or whatever. For what, he wasn’t sure, just that he was wary. He wasn’t the best socializer and never had been. He was always trying to catch-up, trying to figure out what dogs wanted or expected to come next in a natural conversation.------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amount: 402 Words. Jig saw 3.5 years | Thai Ridgeback She said in a half joking half frantic manner, though she understood his reaction was quite normal. She herself had lost most of the caution she use to hold within old human settlements, in the past, Scotch wasn't so friendly with strangers. A wondering look spread across her face at the males answer "Oh, it sounded as if you might have known, seeing how well you sung it..doesn't sound like a song any normal person would sing.." she said, the use of words and the emotions behind it.. "It sounds more like a song one would sing when thinking of the past" she added, her mind worked to figure out the meaning behind the melody. then she shook her head and and discarded the thought "not that it's any of my business of course"An old memory popped into her head suddenly in between her thoughts and she chuckled to herself. "You remind me of someone i met once before, He had a similar take to stranger like you...cept his glare was a lot more...brick walled" She said, She begun to relax a bit, but part of her couldn't totally drop the anticipation in her body if the male decided to attack. dots begun to draw within her head, the scar, the stance, the attitude toward a stranger. All seemed familiar, though the way she met this male and the other one in her memory was completely different. Scotch laid down on the dusty floor and looked up to the male. "My names Scotch. Hope your more verbal then the guy i met long ago. It been awhile since i had any chit chat" She said warmly to him, though the mutt wasn't expecting much. the Profiles matched pretty nicely..there was a Chance this male wasn't much of a talker like her old friend long ago in the past [/ul]

Adar’s heart was thumping harshly, ringing in his ears. It was a bit of nervousness that always ramped up in the presence of another canine. He didn’t know what to do and that always left him feeling like he was playing catch-up. It was better to be defensive and ready than caught unawares. But apparently he had become too defensive for the female. She blurted out a stream of words meant to reassure him. They worked a little bit and he dropped his lips to cover his teeth once more and his ears relaxed their tension.
He clicked his jaw together, grinding his teeth with a bit of nervousness. He shrugged as she spoke, unsure of how he should respond. Her words made his ears flicker uncomfortably and he shifted a bit, looking down at his paws. How could he explain that he didn’t remember how he knew it? Didn’t even know what it was called. Her last sentence caught his attention and he lifted amber eyes to her with intensity. She thought it sounded like he was thinking of the past? How could she know that if he didn’t even know that? His eyes were still wary and grew a bit more as she seemed to decipher what he’d been singing. He wasn’t sure how he felt about that. His nape bristled for no reason, just mainly because he was so wary, and then she brushed past it off and he relaxed.
Her next words made him tilt his head a bit, though his eyes narrowed. What did she mean by that? She wasn’t about to say she knew him, was she? He bristled a bit more and scooted back as he looked at her. He wasn’t sure what to say and didn’t know how to deny it if he wasn’t sure. But she didn’t sound so sure and he forced himself to relax a bit. He nodded when she introduced herself and mumbled out in his low tones, ”Adar. I’m Adar.”

He wasn’t sure what he should do in response to her last words and he just shrugged and offered what he hoped was a smile. It came off a bit lop-sided but the effort was obvious. He still held his defensive stance but lost the threatening aura.------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amount: 380 Words. Notes: I love Scotch!
