History ~
Life was good for Brue. Was
It was about two o'clock in the morning when Brue heard a noise downstairs. His ears pricked before he even had his eyes open, jumping to his paws, Brue trotted his way down stairs and stood at the bottom. Surveying the living room, clear. Next, Brue moved to the bathroom, clear, next stop was he kitchen. There was an alarming sight. Brue's first reaction was to bark, he let out three loud barks before he bared his teeth. Brue wasn't used to being an aggressive dog, however he loved his family more than anything. He continued to bark harshly before his muzzle was covered with someones hand, his vision went black.
Brue woke up some hours later, sore and cold. His throat sore from the barking he had done. Is Kaley and Jane safe? What happened to them? Brue got to his paws and shook violently, he took in his surroundings. His paws felt cold on the crude cage he was trapped in. Cement. Cement and a chain link fence ensured he wouldn't get out. He paced for a few moments before he sat back on his haunches. There was a loud banging before he seen the man he once defended his home from. Brue's stomach twisted, a low growl lurked in his throat, he didn't know what he was doing here, but he had to get out, to find Kaley and Jane. He heard other dogs barking, and whining. the tension was getting to his head, his heart thumped loudly, he was almost sure others could hear it.
He had spent so long in that awful place he didn't even know what day it was, or if it even was day. Maybe it was night? He didn't know. His stomach growled as he glanced over at the food that the man had layed out two days before. He wasn't going to eat anything that Jane or Micha fed him. But his stomach ached from how hungry he was. Finally he got to his paws, stumbling the first few pawsteps he was definitely weak. The food smelled of rotten table scraps, and something else. But he couldn't put his paw on it. Finally he took a small bite and instantly spewed it back out onto the floor. His stomach then growled again, almost tauntingly. Again he took a mouthful and swallowed. The taste lingered in his mouth for some time after that, he took a few more mouthfuls before he got so tired he could hardly see straight, he teetered and leaned as he tried to walk away, to the nest of rags he layed on. He finally collapsed and again, his sight went black.
Brue didn't know how long he was out, but it must have been a while, the roof of the building had been ripped off and the sun shone brightly right into his eyes, squinting Brue seen nothing but dirt and dust flying all around him. Getting to his paws he looked back to the half eaten food he ate some days earlier, his lip sneered and he moved on. Stepping out into the hallway of the torn building he felt soil beneath his paws for the first time in years. He glanced down and gave a short sigh, he missed the feeling of soil. The feeling of a breeze, the sun. He lifted his head to the sky then glanced around one more time, nothing here was alive. Surprisingly he was.
