Ragged breaths drew in and out with the beat of her heavy footfalls quickly running down the dirt road. Tears strolled down her face creating tiny streams of damp fur throughout the mounds of matted thick fur coated with blood and dust. Each step racked through her aching body, already screaming with pain from both her fall and the near hour of constant running without stopping for the fear of being trapped in the strong jaws of Cato who was surely coming after her by now. Fear engulfed the german shepherd as a noise caused her naturally perky audits to swivel in concentration, hackles raising in defense though she knew for a fact there was no hope when it would come between her and the only male she had ever learned to love. Swirling emotions and memories not meant to be retrieved ever again made their way back, repeating images and sounds of snapping jaws, words once spoken just hours before, it felt like eternity to Nova, as if the world was moving in slow motion and she was just stuck in the middle of it all. Slowly, Nova allowed a light whine escape her vocal cords as her firey orange tainted orbs scanned the trees for any sign of movement, coming up empty the female did her best to push all worries to the side, an impossible task. A whisper drove through the silence like a whistle, a voice that was unheard by anyone else, it could be one of two things, an angel or the devil coming to take her away from this living hell, to put the black sable female out of the misery she called life. "Ssssh, Nova it's just me," alto cords strummed with her nearly silenced words, calming herself as much as truly possible.
Nervous tremors ran throughout her muscled body as her sprint lost no pace, closing her tired eyes and taking a deep breath as her aching limbs carried her further hoping that when she would open them, everything would be over. Darkness overwhelmed her, both eyelids had created a shade between her amber orbs and the the fading sun that brought light to them. Images flooded her vision, green eyes, foaming mouth, rippling black body, coming for her. Whimpers and whines were slowly trickling from her raw throat in response as the female readied herself to open her eyes, awakened from her moment of peace by a stiff figure that had stopped her dead in her tracks, nearly knocking her backwards. Immediately she panicked thinking the worst , Cato had caught up to her, preparing himself to end the job he had begun. In so many ways it was all her fault this ha happened in the first place, why had she not seen the signs that something was never right about him? Had she been delusional or just blind by her own stupidity? Probably both. Terrified to face the reality that was waiting for her when she finally decoded to let go, that was if he decided to let her live that long. It was a fact that she had temporarily decided to ignore as the female stood frozen in the middle of the road with her eyelids clamped shut, swallowing her vision with darkness, still it was better than facing the demon that would literally take her breath away. Though she knew that standing petrified with fear would not protect body or mind from anything, let alone a psychotic male on the loose and after her specifically. Facing death head on was never anything she had thought of, but when death's name was Cato, it was impossible to think of.
Preparing herself to open up, to see the monstrous ebony male with the fangs of a millions bats and the muscles of a thousand bulls was not an easy task considering Supernova had never been one to give up without a fight. However, it now seemed as though all fight had left her, all the light in her eyes had diminished bringing along with it the bounce in every flawless step. The past couple days had worn away the past to create the future, a dull figure with no life, that was already coming to a quick end, rounding to the closing of such a short, worthless, short little life. It was completely useless to stall, lost in her thoughts for the last seconds of her life, it was time to face it like it was. A suspect was already at the start line to carry her to one of the heights, either heaven or hell. With her LADT words, she spoke the outcome of a year and a half of life in whispered Latin words "Nunquam Amavit." Never loved. It was seemingly untrue until recently when the truth was admitted and all love had faded away as if it had never been there to begin with. Finally grasping what seemed to be her last breath, her thin lids fluttered to open, already prepared to see the ebony male snarling at her death bed, a devil who had lost his disguise. Instead something far greater was found, practically glowing in the fading daylight. Instead of evil preparing to drag her lifeless corpse to hell, Nova found herself staring into the bicameral eyes of an angel. Releasing the breath she thought to be her last and letting her eyes fill with the tiniest sliver of hope.
Instantly she felt safer with this male than she ever had before, he was large and even under his thick ivory based coat, rippling muscles were visible. Amongst the many canines she knew, this complete stranger was the only one who might actually have a chance taking on her new found enemy. Even without words, his haunted gaze softened her with comfort, his scent simply intoxicating brought her to let her hackles fall, her muscles to relax, exposing how much her body actually ached. Lifting her front paw as the black sable female realized pain seared up her spine every time pressure was applied, and refusing to turn her head quickly in any direction to avoid horrid headaches which lashed her with vivid memories not meant to be remembered. Though her guard never fell, now it was up for good, protecting her delicate heart as well as her body which was being hunted like a meal. All fear flushed from her tense body as she took a step back, unable to depend on her voice, the female stayed silent, her tears slowing with her joy.

** Darkness. It was all that the boy felt in his heart nowadays, this deep lingering depression that just wouldn't go away, no matter how hard he tried to look on the bright side and be happy for his mother and sisters, keep them thinking that he was loving every single breath of life. He didn't even know why he was so sad, it wasn't like any traumatic event happened to him that forced him to be like this, no, he was just born this way, with the knowledge that their father didn't want them, perhaps only as minions, so that he could be with the love of his life, which wasn't their mother. Paws trailed over the countryside, probably walking for what was the fifth mile from the trailers his family group lived in, he was supposed to be hunting for them, but of course, they told him to go relax and take a break, that they would be able to handle finding lunch, and while he initially protested quite loudly, they ushered him away with their female intuition and wit, stuff that he didn't understand. Though perhaps the main thing that sent him bolting was when they started mentioning how Soviet was going to give them the talk about birthing and puppies, ew, he didn't want to be around for that, yeah he was an adult now, but the mere thought of all that stuff made him shiver with disgust at the process, even if the outcome was beautiful.
** Large paws shuffled through the sticky mud, coating the white fur and making it appear more chestnut than anything else, making the road feel like slush rather than soil. His erect ears swiveled around to try and pick up any noises, but all he heard was the booming of the thunder and the pouring of the rain, especially as it smacked against the metal roofs of some of the buildings in this western-esque town. It matted down his thick alabaster coat, making it hang heavily, yet in a way it outlined the thick muscles found all over his thighs and spinal area, a threatening figure to encounter on any other day, at least until they met him and saw how emotionless he was, more like a statue than a dog. But even then most weren't comfortable around the Shepherd mix, for he had aggression issues, often directing his anger at the wrong soul, and perhaps it was best that he was alone, to wallow in self-pity and prove to himself that no one cared about the dog named Nicholas, that the only reason some canines talked to him was because it would benefit them in a way. Like that one girl he met the other day, a beautiful Collie, she was so sweet that it actually made him show a glimpse of a smile, but it turned out that her kindness was because she just wanted a place to sleep, and a strong male to protect her from these guys that were flirting with her, for come morning, there was no longer a woman to call his friend.
** Bicameral voids trailed around, trying to peer through this shower, but that was when he saw the still silhouette of a dog in the middle of the road, something quite strange indeed, for most mutts would have rushed for shelter by now, not including him, since he and the rain were close friends, tears were indiscernible when your face was covered in rain droplets. His long tail rested by his right ankle as it curled at the tip, his head tilted to the side as he trotted closer, slowing down to a walking pace when he was within three yards of this mysterious stranger, now able to trace the scent through the rain, a female, and thus he wasn't as suspicious as before. He continued to get closer, and he noticed how pretty she was, a pure German Shepherd, but the fact that her coat was more of a dark sable was what made her stunning, a gorgeous specimen of a breed he thought he hated because of his father. She seemed to notice him as well, for the girl lifted a paw up, and she looked like she was extremely tired and in immense pain, for she must have been traveling quite the distance, he had never seen her around these parts before, and since he had been born here, that was saying something, a foreigner judging by her exotic fragrance as well, it froze his blood.
** Nicholas's nose twitched around as he pressed his muzzle against her cheek, not in an affectionate way like some charming brute might have done, no, he just did it out of the necessity of his icy heart to make sure he wasn't just imagining this situation, and one the sensitive flesh touched upon damp fur, he knew that she truly was a solid angel given to him on this gloomy evening. He then walked a half circle around the girl, at least until he sidled up beside her, careful to not hit any open wounds that she had, letting her petite weight fall on to him as he asked in a monotone voice, “Are you alright?” It was sort of rhetorical, considering he could definitely see that she was injured, and he ushered with his head for her to start walking forward, the mutt helping her every step of the way until he started heading towards the trailers, where his family would be stationed, yeah, he'd just take her to one of the nearby abandoned vehicles and tend to her until she was well enough and left like everyone else did, right after taking every single hand of help he offered. There was a silence between the two canines, at least until the usually mute boy decided to introduce himself as, “I'm Nick.” Then that damned quiet was hanging over their heads, his mouth snapped shut, long legs eating up more land in every step than the lady, thus their gaits being awkwardly in tune to one another, as if both minds were one. Hopefully she wouldn't kill him for trying to be helpful.

Thunder cracked like a whip above her heads as it cued the lightning to strike in a vivid flash near by, causing her to flinch by both the noise and the light the duo inflicted. During the wild sprint made in order to merely get away from the angered male, Nova had not even taken notice to the rain pouring from the skies with no ending in sight. Drop after drop began to sink into considerably fresh wounds which had painted her body throughout the actions of the day, causing horrid pain to shoot through her body. Biting her tongue to avoid screaming out, now fully aware of the pain she was in. A scream would only signal the direct location that was not even a secret to begin with. Out in the open, not hard to find the pair of soaking canines stood awkwardly, one battered and bruised, crying like a baby. "Not really," voice muffled by the pounding droplets, the sable female gave the answer he already knew. Electricity shot up her spine with such power the Russian girl thought for a moment that she was being struck by the lightning flailing from the cumulonimbus clouds shading the normally blue sky with drab grey. With closer examination it was discovered to be only the touch by a moist nose gently pressed against her cheek, careful and slightly hesitant. It was as if he was being careful not to break her, or just in his own little world. Nick, the name of the only star in the darkness giving a tiny grin despite the panic rising inside, Nova replied to him "Nova," said simply, only answering the question he never asked with words quiet with the twist by her thick accent.
Frantically looking around as a twig snapped somewhere in the distance, her hackles instantly rose again with the beat of the heart thumping as fast as the wings of a hummingbird. In the distorted young mind the female saw black paws thudding against the dirt a short distance ahead, coming with a vengeance. Muscles contracting as the fear shook her body violently with tremors, it took everything she had to keep her knees from buckling underneath her. A cue for her to leave, though it was impossible since the mind and heart was torn in two with one decision ; should Nick stay behind, probably never to be seen again or come if he chose to? It was sickening to even think of being alone again, out in the night just a single soul, however if the mix breed would tag along there would be a massive chance that he would be injured at the least. Nova really did not want to hurt the male who obviously meant nothing more than to help out one who visibly needed it the most at the time, but if she merely pushed the angel away, would he take it the right way? What if Nick took it as rejection? It was by far the opposite considering the German shepherd wanted nothing more than to save him from what was only coming for her. If anything would be to happen to this kind soldier, it would be her fault and she would never forgive herself, not that she would have long left to live anyway. "Would you come with me? I don't know where I'm going but I don't want to go there alone." It was a shot in the dark, but the decision was his. It was ridiculous to think he would come if he knew what was coming, though there was no time to explain, the world had eaten away at the minutes ti endure in a conversation.
Following his motions, quickly trotting to his side, flattening her ears against the thick skull somehow developed along the line, trying to appear as if she was not following him like a freak. As of now, it was all just dread of being by herself, no one to talk to, no one to die loving. Paw after paw imprints made themselves apparent in the thinning mud as her walk became a quick trot. Hopefully, all trails left behind would be covered by the puddles quickly forming in every dip formed in the soft Earth. Closing the gap between them by a single footstep just for security reasons and looking over at him, watching his steps which were well considered and powerful, Nick seemed to be smart with the way every action was always well thought through, checking for any possible hazards. If only Nova had learned to be so considerate of her actions perhaps none of this nonsense would have taken place to begin with. Telling this new found savior seemed like the right thing to do, just for his actually caring unlike so many others that had been passed during her run who just sat and stared. Maybe Nick was the only one in this dainty little down who actually cared when one was seriously injured and physically and mentally terrified.

** Now that the male was next to the beautiful female, he was able to smell the fresh metallic blood that was coating her thick coat, something that made him feel very worried, his ears lowering a bit as he traced both differently colored eyes, one of ice and one of cocoa, over her dampened coat. He wondered how she had received them, and definitely it wasn't through hunting some large prey, no, it wasn't the horns of a bull nor the teeth of a puma, the incisions were smaller and less defined, it was like another dog had attacked her. Plus she had pieces of debris randomly found all over her fur, and he saw a small glitter somewhere along her flank, to which he delicately pulled out a shard of glass, instantly tasting crimson fluid on it, to which he spat it to the floor, noticing the new trickle of blood that ran down her leg, to which he said bluntly, “I'm sorry.” He hadn't meant to harm her in his path of redemption, for if he assisted this angel, then maybe the gods would give him a bit of pity, allow him to spend some more time with this girl, and perhaps she would become his friend. He definitely needed one of those nowadays, to give him a shoulder to cry into when his depression just got the best of him, and as he started examining her figure once more for any more injuries, he couldn't help but ask, “What happened?” Yeah, short bursts of words were his forte, he wasn't much for long conversation.
** The German Shepherd then blessed him with her name, Nova, and it made his rubbery lips actually quirk in the smallest of expressions, trying to show her a bit of sympathy and understanding, despite being probably the worst dog in conveying his emotions in the right way. There was a slight sound in the distance, the noise of a piece of wood breaking, to which he instantly glared at the source, a raccoon in the wrong place at the wrong time, to which his own fur raised along his spine, only to calm down instantly when he saw the girl start to cower, damn, how abused had she been, where was this horrid place she had run from? In an amazing example of Nick being out of his usual character, he touched the side of his face to her own, having to crane his neck down a bit considering he was over a foot taller than her, exactly thirteen inches if a human had been around with a ruler to measure the distance between one another's shoulders. She slowly gathered her courage before standing up, and he instantly was focused on her once more, making sure he was planting his frame in such a way that she could use it for a beam of support, not wanting her to fall over on his watch, and he didn't even know why he was being so alert and protective of this vixen when he had barely met her for five minutes. It was like something in his mind knew she was special. Different from everyone else, like him.
** Her voice was absolutely lovely, exotic in her own way with thickly accented words and a melodic voice, only slightly scratchy from apparently not having been used in a while, to which he tilted his head, wondering exactly what her question was going to be, only to hear it and ponder for a few seconds. She wanted him to go along with her, to this destination in her mind that she wasn't sure of yet, and that meant he would be separated from his family for a while, but seeing as how his mother had his sisters, they would be fine without him for a bit, plus would they want him to deny another canine in need? He didn't even hesitate for a second more as he said, “Of course.” Seeing as how Nova was so skittish out in the open the Shepherd mix started thinking up a plan to get them somewhere secluded and safe they could hide out until the rain stopped, and then they would continue on their travels, for he wasn't going to question her fear, he knew what it felt like to be laughed at, when no one believed what you knew was coming after you. Now he was at her side again after having scoped the area, alabaster fur mingling with that of dark sable, directing her towards the abandoned shack in the forest, the canopy of the trees blocking most of the rain, at least until he nudged her into the building, glancing around the dark woods once more with warning as he pulled the door slowly until it was a crack open. The only light supplied to them was the silvery moonlight, enhancing both of their celestial appearances, and he noticed how soaked the vixen was, feeling this inkling feeling in the back of his antisocial conscience that he should keep her warm, and cleanse her wounds, lest she get sick. Standing up on to long limbs, the brute slinked over to the female, wrapping around her smaller form, beginning to use his flat tongue to work on those bleeding gashes, taking care as to not harm her too much, only asking, “Maybe now is the right time to ask what you're running from.”

Whining quietly, trying not to complain as the male carefully disposed off the acute shard of glass which had been lodged tightly in the thick, matted black sable fur from the jump previously involved in. Even though it was a considerably quick, painful procedure, it could have been much worse if anyone had done it, for no one else would have taken the time to be gentle with her wounds. The debris would have been abruptly torn from her skin with no thought in the knowing that the German shepherd female would not fight back, no matter how easy and predictable it would be to react with such violence. In addition to being utterly gentle, Nick quickly apologized for his actions which had caused much more pain to explore through her limbs. Finally, the male asked the question dreaded most, one hard to answer with words, however, completely avoiding his question all together for her angel at least deserved an answer to his implied words. "I jumped from a roof to escape from Cato..." thick accented words strode straight from the twisted mind, sensitive audits swiveling to address any reply from his own melodious cords. Instantly melting into his ivory shaded pelt as his guise met hers, slightly leaning on his sturdy frame to support her weak body for just a couple steps before gently pulling away in attempt to avoid any thoughts that she was weak in spirit as well as body which was not hard to see. Currently, there was a harsh disturbance in her normal attitude however, her usual self was slowly returning to semi-normal self with his help, bit by bit particles of her past were building up in a mound all their own. Never again would Nova be completely like how she used to be, though maybe that was okay, perhaps it would wash away all the negative effects of her disposition, only leaving behind a couple strays. A tiny grin crept along her lips with agreement, stating his answer like it was obvious. Thank God she thought as she slowly idled into the shack, only hesitating slightly before deciding that all trust was in the mix breed for the time being. Letting her dark colored bod sink against his frosty coat, embracing the warmth he brought to spread throughout her, though her comfort lasted for only a minute until his salmon tongue began to work over each and every distressed area of her muscled build. Body stiffening even with his tame actions, it was easily detected that he was attempting to his best ability to be easy on her sensitive wounds. Despite his best pursuits, a torrent of aches were sent crawling through each spur with every swift movement of his tongue, causing the docile vixen to cringe. Yet another inquiry that forced memories to pour out in vivid pools, her breath inhaling sharply before answering. Distorted chords strummed to the quick beat of her racing heart "I used to love him, an experiment gone wrong, but not so much anymore." Finally the truth came out, through Russian cords not as thick as other who may have lived in the foreign country for years, however it was still there, lingering on every fragment of each short sentence. "Cato is...strong, he is very big, and he is still after me," if Nicholas was to leave at any point, it would most likely be now since he now knew what he was up against. Like a top secret mission, this was dangerous for the both of them, Nova felt terrible for dragging the only friend she'd ever had other than the devil coming after her, into a mess that could possibly end him. It was not that she was doubting the abilities the mutt had, just that she now knew what Cato was capable of doing.

** As the brute worked on cleansing all her wounds, he breathed in the sweet scent that was the beautiful woman, her natural fragrance beneath all the muck and blood, yes, she was just like a sugary treat that he wanted to get his paws on, yet was forbidden to, that was what this encounter was like. After he was sure that he had gotten to every nook and cranny he was allowed to, fixing her up all over, he casually laid his chin over her shoulder, neck draped over as their colors continued to contrast as boldly as day and night, yet it was still so gorgeous in a way, like a true piece of artwork. When Nova mentioned that how she had gotten all of these nasty injuries, she mentioned someone named Cato upon that flurry of Russian chords, one of his ears flickering to the side as he frowned, wondering exactly who that man was, and why she had to run, was he her old master? Many questions were running through the quiet knight's mind, though he kept them all piped down, it would be rude of him to intrude on her privacy after he had only met her for an hour or so, it was like his icy heart was trying to take over the logic in his mind. Amber pools locked on to those of bicameral shades of emotionless intentions, and there was this spark in between them, something that made his breath hitch in his throat before he exhaled with inner irritation at himself, why was he acting like some damned fool? Though he could admit that he felt the sensation he felt as his hackles raised with slight anger towards this male that she proclaimed she had once loved, something that he didn't like, it didn't feel right, why would she care for someone who had tried to do her harm?
** Though then she had mentioned something about this ex-lover, an experiment gone wrong, what did she mean by that? He didn't question her, only listened as she spoke some more, stating how big he was, and that was when the inner male within Nick knew he wanted to protect the German Shepherd, to which he asked, “Exactly how large? Taller than me?” It was the only way he knew his courage would be able to come in stronger, if he knew he had at least one advantage over this unknown demon, but that was alright, even if he was smaller he would fight to the death, like a loyal mutt to his master. That was when he knew they would have to get at least some sleep in if they wanted to move by the morning, to which he pressed his nose to her cheek in a formal manner as he stated, “It's best if we rested, good night… Nova.” That was when his lids veiled over his optics, his breath slowing but never completely allowing him to get into a full state of napping, for the thing with this brute was that ever since he had been born, he never was like the other kids. He always was alert, the smallest of creaks or cracks making him wake up, it was both a blessing of safety and a curse of exhaustion, though morning came soon enough, the rain having settled down to a small drizzle as he slowly detached himself from the girl, one brief flicker of thought wondering if he should just run home, but no, his dedication forced him to stay as he shook his ruffled pelt. The sun streamed through the shattered windows, landing on his almost silken fur as he noticed her stir, only to then flash her a small smile with a strained, “Good morning, shall we head out now and find breakfast along the way?”

Yet another painful memory was forced into her cranium as the female was provoked with hopefully the last question proposed by the handsome brute. Though this was by far the worst inquiry yet, for it was only able to be answered with a direct visualization of the worst imaginable nightmare. Pulling an imaginary hieroglyphic image of Cato was set next to Nick, comparing sizes as well as muscle capacity which was considerably difficult to define with all the fur in the way of each of their bodies. From the physical data collected by this observation, the strict female answered carefully "You taller, Cato more muscular," using drowsy, slow words enriched with foreign spice from Russia, the home country where everything good began. Thinking back, Nova realized if her humans had never sent the family of shepherds to America, the vixen would have never encountered such troubles, for everyone in her hometown was more than decent in particular dispositions directed to each and every unique character. Nodding at his next words, hoping to rest with thoughts of home swiveling throughout her dreams, encouraging the heat radiating from the ivory fur of her savior.
As soon as both lids fluttered to a shut, however, the world became darker, with no lights in sight, vivid flashes of light reflected from every direction as the sound of glass shattering echoed down the dark alley, one never to be forgotten. A cloud of dust and debris floated into the murky night air, clearly visible in the light of the full mood brightly glaring from above, the scent of garbage and rotting human food illuminated in the sensitive nares of the frightened, vulnerable shepherd. Sparkles fluttered through the air, raining down onto the canine in a storm of glassy shards as the dark silhouette of a bull flew over her head as if it had wings. Only it was not a farm animal, but a dog out to get her specifically, only for the fear of losing himself in the weakness of love. Burying what she could of her body, tiny for the breed, in the mess of trash with no avail without losing herself in the smelly mass. Unable to see the creature from the current location in the mess, the female hoped and prayed her hardest that the strong stench being produced by the unwanted scraps would be more than enough to mask the scent streaming from each pore. Jaws latched around her neck, concluding her worst nightmare "Good night, Nova" deep vocal cords shattered her soul and spirit, as well as her life, even though it was imperative the girl kept in mind that she was no where near a garbage can, it seemed way too real.
Awakening with a gasp, inhaling the breath she'd been dying to take as the weight of invisible jaws fell from her larynx,a series of trembles exploding throughout her body as her muscles struggled to contain the fear she was trying to fight off. "Nick..." her voice came out ragged and strained, still attempting to completely find itself in the chaos filling her. Looking over to see that the male was still beside her bodice, though now wide awake, lips moving but no sound coming out until the last word. Taking only a moment to decipher his lips before nodding once again in reply, still not being able to speak correctly.

** The male’s muscled limbs prodded the aging wood as he stalked a few steps forward, tail lashing menacingly as he stared out at some yellow birds flapping around outside, oh such a perfect potential meal for the German Shepherd, seeing as how she was so thin from probably not having eaten in a while, so it would be best to start small so she wouldn't throw it all back up from an upset stomach. Bicameral voids glanced over to her as she finally awoke, speaking his name in such a way that it made his ears pin back with a whine, wondering what was wrong as his muzzle pressed against her cheek, rumbling out as he scanned over her bodice, wondering if she had gotten hurt, “Are you alright? What's wrong?” Though he really didn't want to press this information out of her, and instead he just offered the smallest of smiles, something that pained even his facial muscles from the bare use of his expressions, and he backed up a single step, deep breath released into the spring air, musky from being inside this building. Gently nudging her up, the mutt took a deep breath, trying to focus on what was going on around him, brows furrowing together as his nose was tickled by her soft brindled furs. Now he stared at the door, the wood glistening due to all the droplets of water on them, probably from the storm last night having crashed through one of the window, and he was thankful that none of the glass had harmed the pair.
** Roughly glaring at the barrier that had been the door that protected them yesterday, the mutt raised his lip in a barely there growl, trying to rack through his mind to figure out how they were going to push through since it was a fact that he didn't have an opposable thumb to turn the knob. So with a small gesture with his chin, the canine ushered for the female to back up as he did, only for the large brute to slam his muscled shoulder into the weak wood, causing some of it to splinter and wade through his smoky white fur, and finally, with one more launch, the bottom half shattered, and he crawled underneath it, calling out, “Come, it's time to go. Before anyone realizes we were here and decide to follow us.” Once he was out in the early morning sunshine, Nicholas shook his pelt to get rid of all the debris, sniffing around cautiously to make sure no foreign fragrances were around, and when he was positive that they were protected, he started walking forward, leading her towards the depths of the forest, where their adventure would begin. The atmosphere was slightly foggy, some moisture clinging to his follicles, and when he chose to stare down at her, he asked, “Do you have any idea of where you want to go? Or are we just going to… run?” He was very curious as the canopy of leaves covered the sun from bearing down upon them, the cool weather good for these nerves pulsating through his entire stature. As they were walking, the Shepherd mix noticed a bunny hobbling around, blood dribbling from its flank, and the boy wasted no time in bolting after it, jaws lowering down to scoop it into his mouth, quickly snapping down, its spine no longer a straight formation. As the blood spilled past his cheeks, the canine returned to his companion, meekly setting the meal at her feet, wanting her to eat first, since she had probably gone longer without it. Letting her slightly dampened nose lean over to gently press against his shoulder, inhaling his sweet scent and barely closing her eyes, for that moment Nova was completely at peace. Slipping out of the terrified faze recently activated, the black sable girl looked around, hoping that the polite gesture had been enough to answer the question he'd asked previously. Standing with his help, orange tinted pools scanning the location around her, if they were not quick in exiting the area, they would not only be caught, but crushed under the shack which was practically disintegrating in front of their eyes. "Anywhere. I do not know this place well" shaking her head slightly to accompany the weak answer flawed with distorted speech from the heritage in which had been so perfect. Following after the near silent, but very particularly considerate ghost with a straight face only sprinkled with the weakest touch of worry in the honey pools gathered in two areas upon the gorgeous face she was bred to have. Beauty was one characteristic in which the sable girl was blessed with thanks to perfection of the kennel she had been born into a little over a whole year ago. Drifting off into a daydream of snow, the feeling of the cold white dust against all four paw pads as the pup bounced through a feild of icicle covered grass blades, the wind pushing back the ruffles of fur that clumped together with packed snow. Trees surrounded the family as they played, always making her feel as if she was in a world secluded from society which made her feel so much safer even though still at a young age the female knew the forests held dangers of all sort, not one ever showed around the area so well known to her. Unique flakes fell on sensitive flares, causing a sneeze to break the serenity that came with the silence, as well as the only good vision received in the past two days. Happiness was short lived when her gaze fell upon the dusty ground spattered with crimson droplets, breaths quickening into a state of hyperventilation as her large paws carried the heavy body back multiple steps, stare locked on the drops, too paralyzed with absolute fear to find the source. Was it her? In the moment of peace did Cato find her? Was Nick already dead or did he run? It wouldn't be surprising either way, though both were horrid thoughts. Not being to help herself but jump as something rubbed against her front paw before settling as a canopy over the over sized limbs, letting out one more shuttery breath before taking a tiny glimpse below her to see a rabbit without a heart beat. Thank the good Lord, not only was she not dead or dying, but she was about to have a full stomach. "I will only eat if you do too." with worried orbs the vixen pushed the limp, bloodied corpse to the only friend she had. Worrying about his own health was the least of the deeds she could do in order to repay him for having the kindness in his heart to help her out even knowing the danger that may lie ahead of them both.

** The male tilted his head when he started hearing the strained breaths coming from his friend, instantly worried as to her well-being, a low bark leaving him as he nudged the side of her face, not wanting her to go into another one of those panic attacks that she had nearly had in the cabin as well as when he first met her last night. Though soon enough, after he stared into those frightened amber voids with his own of bi-colored tendencies, she started to calm down and he licked the tip of her nose with strange affection, rather awkward, but endearing in his own special way. The beautiful German Shepherd stared down at the plump rabbit he had brought over to her, and for a while she hesitated, only to nudge it back to him with cutely accented words, something that actually made him smile vaguely. Never had anyone cared enough to ask him to have the first bite or sate his own hunger, because he was always so busy worrying about everyone else other than himself. He managed to rumble out a quick, “Thank you.”, before he shook his head and slid it right on back in between her paws, adding more to his earlier statement with, “It would make me happy to make sure you are safe first, we’ll find something for me along the way, okay? You don’t have to worry, I’m not even that hungry.” Well, that was a lie, but it was all that he knew to do to convince her to consume the rabbit so they could move on, not get stuck and then give more time to that Cato soul who wanted to harm his companion so much.
** Nicholas waited patiently as the Russian took her tidbits of meat at a time, making sure to let her know not to eat too quickly, seeing as how she wouldn't react very well to the stomach aches, and once she was done, he tossed the skeleton somewhere in a nearby river to disperse the scent so that it couldn't be followed to their location. His muscled legs carried him quite quickly as he always made sure that Nova was by his side, anything other than that was not suitable for him, their fur mingling as the forest soon enough turned into the trailer park where his family lived, Soviet and his sisters, though judging by how quiet it was, they probably had either gone off to search for him or went on another girl trip. He refused to look at the vehicle that he had lived in nearly all his life, but he did know they were getting close to the nearby town, away from Saddle Creek, but he knew their destination would be in Alamosa, a distance that made most dogs groan, seeing as how it was miles upon miles of walking. But over there they had many buildings they could rest up in, places they could hide, and if that strange male was trailing after them, then he would have quite the hard time in trying to find her path when it mingled with the abundance of city mutts. The once green grass now turned into a rather boring brown dirt landscape as they were upon the border between towns, even seeing an abandoned Native American excavation site, and he deciding to make some conversation to dispel of that quiet air, “What was it like in Russia? … I heard that America has these things called states and we are around the bottom, so that means there is a whole new world to explore up there. Seems like something I might do in the future.”

At first it seemed as if the reward for the genuine kindness of the heart he had, though it seemed so guarded like no one was meant to know the true Nick, that was an issue for Nova. As scarred as she now was, the girl would never learn how to keep herself protected from the emotions that were the biggest internal demon, love was something that was uncontrollable like a terrified bull searching for the way out of a rink. Almost as quickly as the request was acknowledged, it was turned down this time, the sable vixen could not refuse his own demands. It appeared that the only worries in his mind were not of his own well being but for his new friend, and for some reason Nova felt that pang of jealousy towards any other friends he was sure to have dwindling around, along with perhaps a crush? A mate? Though he was a bit young to have a life long companion, there was so many years lying ahead for them both to find true love, and now more than ever she seemed to simply understand this statement. Rushing into a relationship without knowing anything about the other half, was basically walking into a trap. Tuning back into the reality, nodding as she muttered a light thank you to the brute before nibbling slowly at the limp animal who's death had only revived the life of another. Making mistakes had been a habit for the German shepherd, however the Russian was not stupid, no matter how much her body ached with the desire to eat, it would not be quenched by quickly scarfing away a meal, but by slowly digesting the food to not upset her stomach as well as keep her hunger satisfied for a couple more hours.
Nick was obviously lying to her about not being hungry, all through the previous night his stomach had been rumbling away, reminding the female of growls heard so many times in the past, especially in the more recent days. However, she did not press this fact, "Thank you for lying for my benefit," giving a soft smile and gently licking his cheek. "Please, just don't make lying a habit..." grin fading with the thought of lies and the hurt, betrayal they brought to her life as she trotted at his side, basking in the warmth radiating from both his body as well as the sun shining brightly above them both. The weather was near perfect, though Nova preferred the cold, her thick double coat of fur was not made for this heat, today was acceptable, there was quite a breeze working in their favor if Cato was coming in the direction she suspected him to be. Licking black chops as amber pools glimpsed over her shoulder repeatedly, expecting to see a black figure stalking closer and closer to take her away to the doom that awaited. Looking forward once again to see objects that looked like tiny metal boxes, she'd never seen such nonsense, however it appeared as if humans had been here, for their scent lingered thick in the air of the season change. Confused the female looked at her companion preparing to be enlightened, "What are these?" cocking her head the slightest bit as she examined them closer, looking into the windows to see house like furniture and appliances. Shooting a glance in his direction, catching him in the moment in which he appeared most awkward, a sense of familiarization leaking from his bicameral voids, "Have you been here before?" Trotting quickly back to him, hearing a noise in the distance that she knew was nothing but a bird and wincing as the sound cut through her audits.
Questions wavered to her, as if she were attracting them like a magnet, though the subject was one that brought her great joy, oh how she missed home. Nodding the girl began to walk at his side once again, a new grin appearing "Oh Russia, I miss it there, very nice. It was always cold, I like cold though. Heat is...hot," giving a tiny laugh at her words, sounding so foolish, but finally being able to laugh with a bit of ease in the longest of times. "I only traveled once, all the way from Russia to another state in America. Though where I come from we don't have states we have Oblasts or Provinces some people call them," calming her expression as she told tales she only knew from human conversations her voice trailed "It was a long trip... I don't remember much about what I saw out the glass boxes..." Referring to windows as her body trailed closer to his, scanning the area with her honey orbs filled with concern. Exploring was always nice, sometimes it led to trouble unless they were careful "I would love to travel back to Russia, but I'm afraid it is across water" frowning at the though that she would never be able to return to the best place to her and looking over at Nick "We could explore together, no?"

** The stoic male was entranced by the amber eyes of the German Shepherd, reminiscent of pots of gold, luxury and treasure promised within them, and his heart skipped a beat as he noticed how her gaze was always unwavering and focused, as if grabbing your soul firmly. Her foreign words touched his ears and he was slightly ashamed of how easily she picked up on his lie, she really was so alert with the world around her, it was an astonishing trait that he respected her even more for, his tail wagging slowly to show his apology. Though the way in which she had asked him not to make a habit out of dishonesty had him flattening his ears like some scolded pup, pawing at the ground as he felt her lick his cheek, a warm feeling bubbling within him as he quietly said, “Never, I promise.” Afterwards he sat a few feet away from her so he could constantly scope out the woods, making sure to be on high alert so that he could protect her, bicameral voids focused on a falling verdant leaf, the summer breeze carrying it along with the bloodied scent of a deceased rabbit staining the maw of his friend. If he were any other male, he probably would have been talking to her about random things at the moment, or maybe even staring at her lovely face, but being the awkward fellow that he was, he focused on other things. Like the way the sun streamed down throughout the forest to perfectly light it up like some sort of luminescent environment, giving him a bird's eyes view of the surrounding land, meaning that he would be able to guard her better by making sure no one was trying to sneak up or something. But as he took in a deep breath, only one thing crossed his mind, and that was peace.
** After Nova had finished her breakfast, the pair was back to traveling far away from any noticeable area that Cato could follow them to, and in the meantime they had encountered a place with metal houses near the traditional Native American tents made of buffalo skin. Those had probably been scientists searching for artifacts from the traveling nomads that had once lived there before being forced to travel by the government, and as he stared with a bit of spite, his companion asked him a few questions, and he took some time to think over his words before jerking his chin towards the modern houses and then the ancient, “Those were used by men who wanted to find things that were worth a lot, they're called houses. But the smaller ones made out of… I think deer skin… Were used by these humans who weren't as cruel as the ones that used to own pets and things like that, they respected us as one of their own, at least that's what the old wolf that lives near my mother likes to say.” They walked a few steps forward, and as they did such a thing the boy noticed a bead necklace just lying there, only to nudge it up with the tip of his snout, shaking it a few times to rid it of the debris, lovely crimson sections found. Turning to the girl, he playfully draped it over her head, watching as it slowly made its way over her maw and finally took its place as a necklace around her neck, the seashell at the bottom thumping against her chest, nearly the color of her eyes, and he murmured, “You look beautiful.” Lastly she asked one more query, about his experience here, and he had promised earlier that he wouldn't lie anymore, so he just added with a grumble, “Yeah, with my father.”
** The canines did not pause for much longer as they headed again towards Alamosa, though Nick was happy when the Russian started to speak of her home country, his ears alert as they wanted to pick up every possible word that would fall from her lips, like the attentive soul that he was. His tail wagged slowly at the mention of low temperatures, he liked the cold weather, and he asked so innocently that he sounded more like a pup than anything, “Was there a lot of snow?” This Slavic country she spoke of made him want to migrate there with her, just live rolling in that ivory slush all day long, that would make him eternally joyous, and he mentioned, “It sounds like an amazing place.” Dirt soon enough turned into gravel once more as the little rocks embedded within his rough pads, and he let out a rumble of excitement as their bodies melded against one another as they walked, the calm air relaxing him down to his core. His hind legs kept a common pace with those of his front, a steady pattering heard from the combination of dog limbs, and when she asked if they could travel together, an accomplishment of his dream to visit all these other places in America, and he smiled softly as he told her, “Of course.” An hour passed after that and they finally reached the front gates of Sagma Circle, the neighboring town of Saddle Creek, though it was much more civilized, with a post office and all sorts of businesses, a diner as well, yet the Shepherd mix had not eaten yet, and it was starting to catch up with him.
** His nose twitched around as they neared the race track, though when he saw the tip of the Bradshaw House, he growled angrily, not wanting to even see that anymore, even if they would offer the vixen better protection than he could, but he was selfish, he didn't want Malo to see her and then steal her attention away from himself. Instead of directing her that way, the mutt walked towards the cinema, murmuring out, “Let's take a stop here.” He nudged Nova to go through the cobblestone hole in the wall first, advising her to watch out for the still sparking wires, though seeing as how thick her coat was, it probably wouldn't do more than singe the follicles. Glancing around once, he went in right after her, the section a bit tighter for his bulkier frame, and with a final grunt, he was in the dark establishment, nails scraping over the velvet carpet, breathing in this spore-filled air and with a sigh, he leapt over one of the clunky chairs on the floor. He rolled his eyes at his own foolishness, he couldn't believe he would actually find his meal over here, chuckling out, “Maybe I'll find some stale popcorn… Stay close, it's easy to get lost here.”

Only being able to watch as the stoic male slightly crumbled into a mess of guilt, suddenly looking like a puppy after getting beaten by it's mother, it hurt the Russian girl to see her only friend fall apart from something she said. It had never been meant to hurt the feelings of another being, however Nick's actions were showing that no matter how much caution tendered to her words, someone could still be struck by the meaning. Though after his answer was made clear, scratched in stone with a promise, Nova could not help but let a grin whisper across her lips, "Thank you." It was the least she could do to apologize as well as make clear that she was only trying to protect them from harming each other, but she still felt a little at loss as far as how simply he fell under her basic script. It just showed how much he truly cared, as well as his current alert posture that matched that of her own all the time. After the Cato incident a few days ago the female had not been able to let her guard down, no matter how close Nicholas lingered to her. Following close by him, her hips swaying, occasionally bumping against his which shocked the girl as well as made a tingle of pleasure shoot through her body causing her cheeks to warm a bright crimson color. It amazed the foreign specimen how much the brute knew about the land he was born, if only she had paid more attention to her little time in the other country so far away, then she would have much more to tell him. As she had drifted into an alternate universe far away from the history lesson the boy was giving, she barely felt the odd piece of jewelry fall against her thick pelt and drape down her neck, only the speech of the bull snapped her back into reality, only to allow her to blush like mad. No one had ever called her such a name, therefore she had no idea what to do besides thanking him, which she did by kissing his cheek, the one opposite of the other she had given him on earlier occasions. Before continuing she also let the compliment ricochet back to him, "You look handsome." The pink shade in her cheeks did not fade until a few moments later when he began to speak again. Neither one of the canines were truly conversationalists, they preferred to keep the silence as a replacement for their words, it only brought serenity to their bodies and minds which were able to wander happily in most cases. Though every time either of them spoke, it was full of emotion that had built in the time they had been silent. As of now, a sense of anger was obvious as the male spoke of his father, "Why does that make you so upset? Is your father bad?" Paying as close attention as she was, it did not come along as a surprise when he quickly changed the subject, though it did flow along with her vibe as she spoke only about Russia. With a nod and a quiet giggle as his mood swung like a bat out of hell, into that of a giddy puppy "Yes, snow was everywhere, it was...spectacular" she added, at ease with the conversation. A smile spread from one side of her face to the other as he agreed to travel with her, if they made it out of this dangerous situation that was, though the idea itself was enough to keep her mood up and a smile plastered on her face for awhile. Nodding once again as she followed closely behind him, only to trail before him as he let her enter the dark building first. Showing much concern for her well being was something the alabaster male was making a habit of, though it was also something the foreign could get used to as opposed to be annoyed by. "You deserve much better than popcorn," she said with a frown, not that he could see her own concern for the partner. Now it had became a duty to the both of them to look after each other, however it was merely impossible here considering the pitch blackness of the area was blinding them from each other. Tripping over a stray chord and falling into his side, stumbling to the ground with little grace with a 'oomph' and struggling to get back up, her body longing to stay on the ground, to rest, though it was also something dreaded, for closing her eyes only brought nightmares. Finally making it to her feet, not realizing she was still leaning against the larger frame of her newest male companion until she got over the shock from the crash "I..I'm sorry," she muttered, taking a few steps away from him no matter how much her peace of mind depended upon his presence beside her. No matter how much she truly dreaded being alone, she knew that the brute had to eat in order to support the both of them if anything would happen, hence her reason for speaking again "You should go hunt for yourself, I'll be fine here for a little while," trusting his ability to hunt with the agility and skill he already showed to possess, the girl was only slightly concerned by his absence, but all in all it was for the best.

** The male let out a soft chuckle when he noticed how distant her eyes had gotten, as if she were pondering over all the mysteries in the world, but he never did try to prod her to focus on him, he wasn't an attention whore like his father, he would prefer it if they just forgot he ever existed. That was what made his stomach tousle a bit, seeing as how he knew his mother would panic, wondering where he had gone and if he had left the family for no reason, to go for a girl like his papa had, but this was different. He wasn't going to go hopping from one birthing vessel to another, no, he saw her as a genuine friend, he had no intentions of forcing her to carry any of his children, hell he wasn't even sure if he wanted to subject his kids to such a horrible life as a stray, especially when they had such a deadbeat father, he knew he wouldn't be the most affectionate or kind. He could never be playful, sure they would have fun crawling over his muscled frame but never would he know how to actually tease and toy around, seeing as how he never tumbled around with his sisters when they were younger, he always chose to sit to the side and keep guard, being only some small puffball. It must have been amusing for his mother to watch him act as if he could defend the entire family, but it had been his true dream to do so. His bicameral irises were downcast as he thought of that, letting out a rippling sigh as he wondered how they were doing, his conscious so guilty for not having let her know, but perhaps it was better this way, maybe they wouldn't even notice he was gone.
** When deeply exotic tones reached to flicker past his ears he lifted his gaze once more with a tight smile, though it was filled with genuine appreciation as he felt her lick his cheek, his tail wagging slowly yet surely, a flutter in his chest that he didn't even know could exist. He had never felt such an emotion around another canine before and he was afraid of it, wondering if it could cause him physical harm, what if it was a heart attack or something? Though this sickly sweet sensation wrapping around the both of them didn't last for long, thankfully, and it was replaced with the seething burn he felt towards his bastard of a father, brows furrowed together when he questioned him as to why his emotions had changed. She was so naïve that it was endearing as he got a bit closer to her, as if maybe it would relinquish the pain a bit, lobes fluttering in the wind lazily as he answered with a pang of terror, one of not wanting to admit what was happening, “He's a horrible man, a monster. I don't want to turn out like him, Nova, he eats other dogs and uses women like my mother. He doesn't care about anyone other than himself, and I'm afraid that I'll end up like him when I get old enough.” He let out a sigh as they finally switched the topics, one of utter relief, seeing as how just the mere memory of that ivory face and stunning golden eyes made a shiver run down his spine with disgusting memories, as if he remembered the time Malo almost made them eat another canine just for a treat, but never did the Shepherd mix ever forget that. It was sort of hard to.
** The one thing that brightened his mood was the giggle that left the gorgeous vixen's mouth, it made a glint of amusement enter his icy right eye, letting out his own stifled laugh at the mention of the cold snow, he was glad at least they had something in common, their love of the nature, unlike most dogs who would complain about how cold or hot it was. Maybe it was because they knew what it was like to have and then lose, never taking anything for granted, even the smallest water droplet was thanked by them for giving them the ability to live for yet another day. He was glad when they had finally reached the safety of the dreary theater, snooping around with his companion as he searched for some food, knowing they would probably leave and explore the town a bit and then stick here for the night before heading for Alamosa tomorrow morning, it was too dangerous to risk traveling at night, this Cato could strike out of nowhere. His fur had prickled up when he heard the Russian fall, wanting to trample whatever caused that and then coddle over her like a child, but he held his instincts and instead helped her up, feeling her lean her weight against his stiff bodice, but it was fine, he liked it better this way, to know she was here until his eyes adjusted to the darkness. Nicholas was worried when she mentioned that he should go hunt for himself, walking forward a bit as he stared in surprise, pressing his nose against her own as he asked, “Are you sure? Nova, maybe this isn't the best idea…” At first it sounded like as if he was rethinking coming on this trip, and when he realized that tone, he shook his head and clarified with, “As in you staying by yourself. Are you positive that you're ready? I mean, I can wait another day, it's no big deal…” Or perhaps he was thinking about himself at this moment, not wanting to be away from her for more than a second, oh great, now he was being all possessive. Wonderful.

It had not been difficult at all to notice exactly how serious the male always was, however for the time being there was a reason to waste no time to fool around and have a little fun. With a practically rabid bulldozer plowing ground behind them, there was absolutely no seconds to spare. Though the female was beginning to hope she could crack a few codes later on in time, perhaps break out a whole other side of Nicholas, though from the judgement based on the utter height of the brick wall he had surrounding all that was held inside, it was going to take awhile before it came crashing at her feet. It relapsed for only a second, turning into something that was a mix of surprise and genuine emotion, the concoction was radiating from the both of them like a chemical which quickly evaporated into the calm air. Replacing the foreign effect with something much worse, the heat of anger practically sputtered from the brute, but for good reasons in which he explained to the confused shepherd who listened carefully, absorbing his negative energy and trying to make the best of it. Pressing her thick cranium against the center of his tight, muscled chest warm with fur hot from the sun as well as the heated blood pumping through the veins beneath. Audits swiveling to greet the unsteady beat of his heart which ticked at an abnormally fast pace to accompany his mood. Taking it upon herself as a duty to relinquish the thundering beats she replied softly, like a mother speaking to a pup just as it dove into the waters of sleep, "Nick, you will never be a monster. Never." Accented words slurred with the remnants of her past as she deeply inhaled his scent, rooting in the mixture of refreshing fragrances of vanilla, getting a hint of butterscotch and trying to separate the wonderful odors of coconut from the everyday smells of outdoors. Slowly the anger was churned into the dirt, and his mood was uplifted at the mention of travel back to her favorite country. America was not a bad place to be, but nothing beat the cold and so far, everything about Saddle Creek was scorching and dry, there was no sign of snow or even the tiniest icicle, just the sun and a whole bunch of dust. It was irritating at the least. Nova was not one to complain, therefore she kept her opinions about the land to herself instead of beginning an embarrassing rant like a child. As she felt herself being raised back to a normal position by her only current companion feeling herself melt under his touch, not wanting him to leave her side. Food was on his mind though, it was obvious, the boy needed it and she was not going to avoid acknowledging that, hence her reason for bringing up the somewhat idiotic idea in the first place. Nodding with a sigh, trying to hide the fear slowly creeping to the surface as she muttered russian tainted words to the large male "Positive, you need it." Pressing her damp nose against the thick fur of his shoulder and trying to gain herself a few ounces of courage before her knight in shining armor left her side to gain his strength back to its full potential.
