Name: Fly
Age: 3 years old
Breed: Border Collie
Gender: Female
Appearance: Fly has a classic border collie coloring; black and white. Her double coated fur is long and sleek. Her eyes are almond shaped and light brown. Sometimes it looks like they’re on fire. Her muzzle is encased in white with a narrow blaze dividing her forehead. Her ears are semi-erect and silky. Fly is 21 inches at the shoulder, and weighs in at 42 pounds. Her legs are muscular and slender from darting back and forth while herding. Fly, as her name suggests, is also quite fast and is able to clear a low stone wall.
Personality: Fly is a tough, hard working dog. She no tolerance for rule-breakers, but she is also compassionate. She considers sheep below her.
Fly is determined and sometimes reckless, especially if the sheep or other dogs don’t listen to her. She is normally calm and gives them a second chance. If they still won’t obey, Fly lashes out, both with her words and her jaws.
She is very brave, standing up for those who can’t fight back or will to come to an understanding. She is intelligent, and knows when she’s being taken advantage of. Fear isn’t a word she knows or cares to know.
History: Fly was the sister of Claire and the two were very close, banding together to take down their two brothers. Unlike Claire, Fly was a natural herder and she was good at it early on. Claire was considered the 'black sheep' of the family by their father, a harsh and commanding dog who considered the pup an insult to the great bloodline and he was ashamed to call her his own. They stood for something and little Clare was not that. Fly tried to protect her only sister from his wrath but most of the time she got knocked aside. It was a relief for Fly when Claire got taken away. She wouldn’t be tortured by their father any longer.
Fly learned alongside her brothers how to be a better sheepdog. Her siblings were later sold to neighboring farms, but the boss kept Fly because of her abilities. Fly competed in the sheepdog trials and won second place. A year later the boss died, and Fly’s father was sold as well. To where, Fly didn't know. But she has no intention of seeing him again. Fly went to live on a different farm, but her new boss was not a kind man. He would yell and kick her if she made a mistake. Eventually, Fly ran away to find her sister. It was a long journey of hitch-hiking in pickup trucks and other cars, and there was the endless walking. Fly learned from a fellow police dog stationed a good ways away from Saddle Creek that he had seen a tan Border Collie there. Fly practically did fly to Saddle Creek, where her sister’s scent was easy to trace. It lead to her body. Furious with grief, Fly will not rest until she has found her killer and makes them pay.
