Amaia had finally returned after a horribly long time of missing and now, was trying to see if her home was taken by someone else. She really hopped not .. she loved that house with all her heart, its the place she grew up in. Even if it just a run down barn. Slithering into the ranch, she looked up to see her old blue barn. With a big smile, she ran to it on her small legs and arrived at the barn.
The doors were cracked open, they always were sense she had been born. Her humans left it that way so the dogs could come and go as they pleased. With a yap, she ran into the barn and smiled. It was still empty and no scent of a new dog "Home sweet home..." whispered the young adult, her pub of a tail wagging happily. She was finally home .. and safe .. for now. Hopefully she wouldn't be bullied anymore .. she hadn't seen Vaughn, so she had no hero anymore. She was all on her own again.
Running to her old bed, the gray dog leaped into the air and landed on her bed, her tail wagging happily. Everything was just the same as when she had left .. well in her home at least. All her friends were gone though, so that meant the shy she-dog would be forced to make some new ones. Which in all honesty was hard for her, she didn't like the idea of having to make friends. Heck, she didn't like the idea of having friends. Not sense her trust was ruined by the bunch of dogs she hung out with as a teenage pup.
When a shadow entered the barn, Amaia let out a loud whimper and leaned back against the old wooden wall, her hazel brown eyes big and scared. She didn't want to say a word .. last time she was somewhere alone, a bunch of dogs had attacked her until Vaughn saved her. Now her home was being invaded? Was nothing safe anymore?

How can you see into my eyes like open doors? Laying you down into my core, where I become so numb.
The silver shepherd, always wandering, always looking for temporary places to bed down for the night, he couldn't hunt for himself and was forced to scavenge all because of his leg. He limped into the barn, unaware of the fellow canine that was residing within the darkness of the old blue barn. Not even bothering with a bed, instead scarping together a half-decent bedding of old straw as he lay upon it. He lay his head down, thinking, -Maybe this time I'll be out of my misery...- as he closed his eyes, trying to let the blanket of darkness consume him and take him away... but somehow, death did not come. He sighed in his half-asleep state, occasionally a single coffee-black eyes would open and glance about, making sure all was well, it appeared so, because he closed his eyes a few seconds after looking around.
Yawning lightly, his head snapped up slightly at the sound of something falling over. So, he wasn't alone, was he? Good, if it wasn't friendly, maybe he would finally get the eternal rest he wished so hard for, and if it be friendly... well, someone to talk to, at least. Lifting his muzzle, he inhaled, just another canine, he stoodf up in the slightest limping of pain legs a bit shaky from the sudden sharp twinge that jolted through his forever broken leg.
Wake me up inside (wake me up) wake me up inside (save me) call my name and save me from the dark. Make my blood to run, before I come undone, save me from the nothing I've become.

Amaia let out a scared cry as the male came toward her. She put her paws up to her face and whimpered her floppy gray ears laying to her skull. She yapped in fear wanting to howl out for help from Vaughn, she didn't know what to do. Someone had just walked into her home and now was cornering her in front of her bed. She couldn't run and she was terrified. She looked up at him with scared hazel brown eyes and whimpered slapping the air hoping he would get the hint that she wanted him to leave. Amaia had very bad trust issues due to the fact of well .. her past. Is this the end? Will he kill me? she wondered with fear.
"Get away! Get away. Don't hurt me please .. this is my home. I - I didn't know someone else claimed it why I was gone. I - I shall leave. Just get away from me. I don't like being cornered. I - I - I." the poor schnauzer was lost for words as she howled a terrified howl and curled into a even tighter ball then she was already in. She didn't like the looks of this male, nor did she like the looks of how this story was to end. She whimpered and let out loud wails of sorrow.

Tired of being what you want me to be, feeling so faithless lost under the surface don't know what you're expecting of me, but under the pressure of walking in your shoes. Every step that I take is another mistake to you.
The silver shepherd paused a moment, before he started toward her. "Oh, not going to hurt you... stop your crying." back before the 'Dust Bowl' started, he was being trained as a military dog. But then his leg broke and shortly after the humans left. It only made sense he was harsh at times. He wasn't in a good mood today, he wouldn't hurt her though, he wasn't one to hurt those that were weaker than him, unless the weaker had attacked him. He sighed and said "If I wanted to hurt you, I would have checked if anyone was here first, then harm you when I found you. Since I haven't hurt you yet, do you still think I'm going to?" he asked, a brow over his coffee black eyes raised a bit as his head cocked to the side a bit.
I become so numb, I can feel you here, become so tired. So much more lowered, by becoming this, all I want to do is be more like me and be less like you.
Sure he was harsh, but at least he wasn't going to hurt her, right? Eyes rolled and he turned, limping back to his bedding, lying down again. Muttering something about "Of course she'd fear me, I'm a military dog, we always come off as scary... sheez." As he lay down and lay his head down once more, he simply stared at the wall beyond him.

Ok, so this dog was harsh. Heh lovely. One of Amas worse fears. Gulping, she leaned closer on the barn wall and looked at him. Her body shook each hair on her little body standing on end. This was horrible! No one to save her now if she pushed this dog over end. He said a few words and her eyes literally popped out of her head. His voice was so deep and scary sounding. With a slight whimper, she stood with a paw in the air ready to dash off at any moment.
"Well excuse me .. you try being the only small dog in this world." she woofed with her floppy ears pinned to her skull. Her attention was pulled away from his eyes and she looked at his leg, it was twisted to a weird position and looked as though it had been .. broken. That would explain why he was so harsh to her little soul. "I - I guess not .. just on edge sense all has happened .. W-what happened to your leg .. if I may ask?" she woofed her attention slowly making its way up to his coffee black eyes. They too were scary, like endless pools of hell.
She watched as he lay down in front of her which sent her leaping onto a shelf with a loud yelp. He was just staring at a wall but still! He was too close now. It made her want to whine and run out of here right now and right then. But this was her home, shouldn't he leave and not her? No .. he was the bigger dog. It was the other way around, or at least that's how she felt. Shaking her head, she sat down on the shelf and kept sharp eyes on him.
"Amaia .." she whispered out.

And I know, I may end up failing too. But I know... you were just like me when someone disappointed you. I become so numb, I can feel you there. Become so tired, so much more lowered, by becoming this, all I want to do is be more like me and be less like you.
He glanced at her as she explained that she was simply on edge. "Join the club, we've got jackets." He muttered, an older phrase his handler would say whenever someone admitted something along the same lines. When she asked about his leg, he simply grumbled "A gift from my father..." and sighed.
OK, so he had issues, he was... somewhat, a notrmal dog, unless you count the fact that the pain in his leg drove him to the edge of insanity and ever closer day-by-day. When she whispered her name he replied with his entire name. "Axel Van Deriz." Followed by what he did before the practically apocalyptic dust bowl. "Army and rescue dog, and now a cripple." and he sighed. Best to just shut up now, he figured.
But then he muttered, as though taling to himself was normal "Now why, you might be asking, why would I tell her that? Well, because I'm honest aren't I? I can be blunt and painfully honest... But I have the softer side to me, we all know that." Looking down he spotted a mouse that sat on it's haunches, staring at him. "You have been following me all day... now shoo." He said, trying to brush the mouse away with his paw, only to have it scurry away. "So, now we're being followed by vermine... never had that before..."

Jack- oi .. dogs were weird now a days. She shook her head and looked down at the ground as she kicked at some dust bunnies that rested on the podium she now sat at. She looked at him and then straightened her position some to feel more comfortable in her own home. She blinked and let her jaw slightly drop in horror. His father did this to him.. Why were animals just as cruel as humans?
She shook her head and pawed at him, still to terrified to go down. "I am so sorry" she wooded and then blinked in dis-may as he spoke his whole story. His whole name, his past, his present, yet not his future. Which was a good thing if you know your future. Its kind of creepy. Though, now knowing a sort description of his past, she shook her head. "Now I understand why your so harsh .. I am sorry hard past and present to have." she woofed.
Wait, he was still talking as though he had more to say. However, he wasn't speaking to her. She blinked in slight scared shock and starred at him. The hell was going on? "Uh .. Axel who are you talking to ..?" she asked, fear in her voice. Dogs were scarier by the day, but this one was just plain insane. She turned her head to see a mouse and growled at it. She never liked smaller creatures in her house, she liked to be alone.
Her head shot up and stared at him "... its a common thing in saddle creek" she woofed.

Just as he was about to reply as to who he was talking to, a sudden growl signaled from behind him. "How lovely," said the newer dog as he began to stalk towards them. "The crazy Hermit," he said looking at Axel "And an innocent little girl." he said now looking at Amaia. He then chuckled and said "As much as I'd hate to break up this pretty little picture, I am hungry, and you are much too big for my smaller stomach..." he said with a glance at Axel. "You on the other hand, are the perfect little bite sized snack." Just as the St. Bernard mix lunged toward her, Axel also lunged. knocking over the bigger dog who got back to his feet. "Don't think you can do that and get away with it, cripple." Axel's ears pinned against his skull teeth bared, and they both lunged at each other, like a deadly wrestling match. Eventually however, Axel had won out by grabbing the larger dog's throat, and spinning, then letting go as the larger dog crashed, with surprising momentum, out the door and simply lay still after a sickening crack when his back landed on a rock.
