The sky was a dark grey color, with no light shining through the thick clouds. The ground below trembled and quaked rapidly, causing the earth to crack and split apart. Castiel panted heavily, panic beginning to set in, as he searched desperately for his darling sister. "Cas, help me!" Her angellic voice cried out, terror in her unending pleas. "I'm coming, Allie!" he called out, barreling toward the bright yellow stars that spiraled in to the air. Every step he took dug in to the earth, ripping chunks of soil out as he pushed off. The wind began to roar around him, making it difficult to stay standing. He was ready to give up, to just let mother nature take him, but the guilt he felt for even imagining leaving his family was too great. As his gaze met the fragile domino-colored girl, yet another begging cry came out, but this was not directed at him. As a glowing red circle struck his face, he knew that his mother was here, too. "Wait!" she ordered, the small corgi flying toward them. The wind picked up yet again, sweeping his darling mother from the ground, and sending her soaring right along with it. He tried so hard to catch her, to save her, but nature's forces were just too strong. She plummeted in to a bottomless rift, screaming for help the whole way. Out of seemingly nowhere, his father appeared, leaping in after his princess, and disappearing right along with her. Tears beginning to fall down his cheeks, he moved to help Allison, when the earth pulled apart right below her.
The mutt awoke with a gasp, heart pounding. He jumped up and looked around frantically, and was relieved to find that the world wasn't falling apart. Ever since he'd left his family, and his parents met their makers, Castiel had been plagued by guilt. He felt as though he wasn't there for them, like he should've been. Growing up to be one of the only males in his family, and the largest at that, he knew from the start if something were to happen to his father, Alonzo, he'd take on the role as protector to his mother, sisters, and brother. The Cardigan Welsh Corgi/Presa Canario mix has always been a shy being, and totally against fighting, which was almost the exact opposite of the beast he was born to. With the only other family member he could relate to being the eldest girl, who was shy even with her siblings, he never really got along well with them. When you always feel like an outcast, it's not easy to stick around. So, at a low point in his life, the young male set out on his own. He regretted it every day. Every damn dream had Allison in it, every damn day he was alone. Oh, how he regretted it...
The male walked slowly through the park, surprised at how few canines were here. It probably didn't help that the sun was quickly setting. When you're not a huge brute in the wild, the moon means almost certain death. Though he hadn't seen many himself, he knew from his father's stories that wolves roamed freely around these parts. They obviously weren't as common in the more civilized parts of this little piece of Colorado, but the looming danger was still enough to make dogs run for the hills as soon as the sun began to fall. Out of pure boredom, he decided to go and mess with the jungle gym. After climbing the mossy rock wall, the mutt looked around to make sure no one was around, and, with a grin of guilty pleasure, he scrambled over to the slide, and flew down on it on his stomach. When he reached the end of the plastic slope, he hit the ground with an audible thud, which sent little black lightning bolts from the ground. Hopefully no one saw that... he thought with a chuckle. One might be surprised at how quickly he'd recovered from his nightmare, but when you live for months at a time with them, it's easy to get used to them. Waltzing over to the lake, he lowered himself down on the ground, and pawed at the water mindlessly. It was then that a twig snapped somewhere behind him, signalling the presence of another canine. "Oh, uh, hello. I don't mean any harm, so could you come a bit closer? I'd love someone to talk to."

Basically, he "hears" shapes and colors. It isn't all sounds that cause him to see shapes, but voices, clangs, and thuds do.

"] snap! Devon growled lightly, looking down at the recently broken stick. There was not one clear path in this entire place! Didn't nature know who she was? Devon scoffed, raising her head and looking away from the offensive ground. When she heard a low voice call out to the sound, Devon froze. Love someone to talk to? Yeah right, like Devon would lower herself to a mangy mutt running around a dying park in an abandoned city. She was about to turn around and walk off, completely ignoring the male. But then she smirked. She didn't know why, but something told her she should befriend this dog, mainly for her own benefit, but Devon was always vain. The spaniel turned, poofing out her chest and put on her best strut. She came into the clearing with her eyes half closed, nose pointed up ward while her docked tail was raised the highest she could make it.
Devon then sat in front of the dog, bring her chocolate orbs with the male's. She looked him up and down, checking his capability to how he could serve her. He was built and from what she could tell, tall. She then glanced to the water he had been playing with. Devon knew out here she couldn't be picky about what she ate and drank, or where it came from, but she just couldn't imagine herself drinking from a dirty street puddle. Who knows how many other canines been there? What they'd done around it? And what if they had weird diseases it could've transferred into the water or something. Devon then changed her demeanor, one to a more friendly canine, even letting a small smile form on her muzzle. She knew if she wanted someone to come to her every beck and call, she'd have to suck up to them just as much as they would to her. Devon didn't mind though, it wasn't like she was going to serve them. She was too high classed for that. (wow, devon's a bitch xD)

As the stranger came in to view, it was easy to judge her character from first glance. Head held high, stubby tail raised, and walking with a gait of royalty, Castiel rolled over and sighed. Oh, yay, she was just the girl he wanted to see today. Regardless, he would show no judgement, and instead offered up a warm smile. His tail thumped out of sheer habit, manners pounded in to his head as a young boy still holding true. He sat up straight as she drew closer, holding his ears back as to not show any aggression. For a brief period, she stared at him with absolute disgust, as if she couldn't believe she had to grace a petty mutt with her presence. Well, that was new. Sure, there were a few snobs scattered around here and there in this town, but he had yet to come face to face with one. This was rather hard for Castiel to believe, because, as far as he knew, he looked pretty damn close to a purebred pitbull or presa canario. Besides, most females he came across thought he was kind of handsome. He decided not to think too much in to it, and simply shrugged it off.
It wasn't long after that she took a seat in front of him, on the bank of the murky lake, and just examined him. Her eyes washed over his frame, taking in every detail as they danced smoothly from one place to another. "So...now she thinks I'm attractive? But..ugh." This girl was starting to bother him, never before had someone been so confusing. First she cringed at the thought of being near him, and now she was intently looking over his form? What devious plan was she cooking up in that nutball mind of hers? Lowering his head and sighing at the feeling of an oncoming migraine, the boy stared right back at her. It was a little unnerving how she said nothing as she stared at him. His breathing became more intense as all of the possible explanations fired through his mind.
"Oh god, she could be a serial killer. She was probably on the prowl for her next victim, or hostage, or, oh my god, she won't make me hurt anyone will she? Nononononono NO. Okay, Cas, just calm down. She's probably just bipolar. Yeah, that makes sense. But what if it's not true AND SHE REALLY IS A PSYCOPATH-" he shook his head, eyes open in fear. He was on the verge of a panic attack, but he had to think back to all of the stories he'd heard. As long as he didn't let her think he was scared of her, and that he thought she was a perfectly normal female, he would be fine. Hopefully. "Damnit, why isn't she saying anything?!" he asked himself as he stared at her, pure terror in his eyes. Perhaps she was shy, and he just needed to strike up a conversation. Yeah, that was it. "So, what brings you here? Are you hungry, tired? I can, uh, help you.. by like hunting or keeping watch while you nap..." he trailed off awkwardly, averting his gaze.

"] Devon watched the conflict in the mutts eyes, Devon inwardly scoffed, she didn't have all day. When the mutt finally spoke, Devon knew she'd hit the jackpot. The male in front of her was your everyday people pleaser, she'd seen a few peasants trying to impress higher class canines back home by showering them with favors. The spaniel wasn't about to pass this opportunity, this was now a dog eat dog world, and Devon personally wasn't fond dog flesh.
"Oh, no, I couldn't ask you to do that!"Her London accent danced off her tongue with fake sweetness, Devon didn't want to let on to her scheme right off the bat, no, if she wanted the dog to be around for awhile she needed to have a better attitude, even if she wasn't entirely... well associated with mutts. It might seem snobbish and judgmental, but Devon had been brought up with every luxury and purebred "friends" to gossip and fake laugh with.
Devon backed away slightly from the puddle, fearing the mutt or whatever else might splash in the puddle and dirty her pristine coat, which took her hours to get all the sand out of it. She then cleared her throat and plastered back on her smile, shaking her head lightly. Her ears flopped around her head, then falling down in chestnut waves, framing her face, "Now tell me, where exactly are we? Obviously this is a city of some sort, however, I have so far seen only mu- I mean, other dogs running a muck." She knew she was in the middle of no where, but she guessed it as a good opener? Not her best, however, she wasn't really practicing good conversation starts of late.
note: your post was awesome ^ this however, is a crappy post

As the sun set, a cool breeze rolled off of the lake. The giant boy grinned as his hot fur began to slowly blow about, cooling him off considerably. It was then that the maiden spoke, hurling a series of red trapezoids directly at his face. Cas shook his head, trying to rid himself of the imaginary shapes. Ever since he was a mere pup, the presa mix never trusted those with a "red voice". It was the color of blood, the essence of a roaring blaze. It represented a power for hunger, and a deeper desire. Rose ears puling back to meet behind his skull, he stared at his paws. "Hopefully she won't hurt me..." It was funny how such a large male could be scared of a tiny female. The boy refused to fight unless it was absolutely necessary, and he wouldn't dare touch a lady. So, what was he to do should she attack him, whether emotionally or physically? Well, nothing. A man should always treat a lady like a queen, even if they didn't deserve a lick of kindness. That's what his momma taught him way back when, and that's what he's always believed.
Letting his thoughts fade to truly focus on her words, he reluctantly looked up to meet her gaze. "No, I insist. Really, if you need something, just let me know, and I'll take care of it." He forced a soft smile, resting his massive cranium on the tall grass between his paws. Castiel watched as she fled from the dirty water, a look of fear in her eyes. The mutt rolled his eyes, sighing. It crossed his mind to tell her that the mud wasn't toxic, that it was actually good for the skin in the summer sun, but he decided against it. She was the fool for being so terrified of something a lot of dogs would kill for. The spaniel then asked where they were, stumbling over her words a bit. "Well, miss, we're in a place called Alamosa. Not many dogs come around here, for whatever reason, but it's a nice change from where I come from. Most of the residents of this area are from Saddle Creek, a nice farm town not far from here. Most of the rich people lived here, and shooed the strays, from what my father told me, so maybe that's why no one comes here...the lingering hatred that surrounded the area. Anyway, this exact location is one of the old parks that humans would come to for relaxation, I guess." He smiled, a bit embarrassed for his rant. "Sorry, I tend to go off on tangents when I get engrossed in to a topic. I'm Castiel, by the way."

On the outside, Devon was stoic, posed with the regality of a queen, but on the inside, Devon was a hair away from throwing herself off a building, but she was never one to give up so easily, especially when it benefited her. The spaniel nodded at his words, not that in a million years would a human ever think her as some stray, with her coat and mannerisms, it was obvious even to humans that she came from money and a linage as rich as the people who lived here.
"Devon, charmed I'm sure." She said dismissively, glancing around the park.
She would set up shop here, sense not so many of those... animals that have the nerve to call themselves dogs when all they do is bang with whores and rip each others throats out. A dog was loyal, a dog was behaved, much like she, even if she was a little stuck up, she was a dog, "If you're sure it isn't too much trouble, I am rather famished." She relaxed her posture, wanting to let the male know she 'trusted' him not to attack her and that she was 'friendly'.
Devon couldn't believe her luck, she had been trying for days to find a dog or whatever lives out here to do her beck and call, but every dog here was insane, some were nice she guessed, but she wasn't here to make friends, in fact, she didn't know what she was here for at all. She knew this however, she wasn't about to go back under human's hand, not after her last family decided she wasn't worth keeping around compared to that wrinkly little pink thing that all the sudden appeared. If this place was truly abandoned by humans and dogs alike, Devon would find a nice little townhouse or apartment in one the buildings that loomed over her, and call it hers. A nice place with expensive furniture if the humans hadn't taken it. Whether or not another dog was living with her, Devon wasn't entirely sure what to do from there. After finding a place she'd then learn all the other stuff, like where to find good water and how to hunt food, or if she needed to hunt at all and there were old restaurants with food that was still edible.
