My head and my heart are colliding, chaotic
Pace of the world, I just wish I could stop it
Name: Abele
Pronunciation: eh-bell
Meaning: white poplar (central European origin)
Gender: female
Age: 1.5 years
Breed: Mutt
[Australian Cattle Dog x Basenji] x [Dalmatian x American Pitbull Terrier]Explanation of breeds:
- ACD & Dalmatian contribute spotted/ticked pattern
- Basenji & APBT contribute brindling
- APBT, Dalmatian, & Basenji contribute smooth coat
- Dalmatian contributes blue eye/odd eyes
- APBT & Basenji (primarily) contribute build
- All breeds are reasonably similar in size
Appearance: Stocky and squarely built, Abele is about 19 inches at the withers. Weighing between 40 and 45 lbs, she is a proportionate, if not necessarily large, young dog. Her brindle ticked coat covers a well-muscled body, starting at alert, pricked ears and ending with a stiff, curved tail. There is no white on her body that is un-marked by ticking except the very tip of her tail. This mottled white covers her face, head, and neck entirely (with the exception of her ears), as well as her chest, stomach, and all four legs. All exposed skin is black with no unevenness of pigment. Abele is odd-eyed; her right is brown, and her left china blue. (113 words)
Personality: Snarky, independent, and—above all—young. Abele goes through life with her tail in the air and a smirk on her face; she might not always be the most level-headed consultant, but she is passionate and stands by what she cares about. Abele's snarkiness and love of sarcasm can occasionally border on disrespectful, but she isn't rude. What she says, she says for her own entertainment and never the intentional detriment of others. And, of course, despite her naturally tendency toward flaunting a strong personality, Abele is aware of her limits. She knows that she isn't the biggest, nor the strongest, nor even the cleverest (well, maybe) dog on the block and she never pushes to far with anyone who has the means to do her harm. She's bold, not stupid. (131 words)
History: Abele is the result of an unfortunate accident of pedigrees on both sides. The stories of how each of her grandparents met, however, is significantly less important (to her, at least) than what has befallen Abele herself since her birth. Abele's father was a bullying transient who, shortly after his meeting her mother and Abele's subsequent conception, skipped town again to take himself on to bigger and better things. Of course, the dust bowl was already in full swing by the time Abele was born and so she came into a world that, while full of their influence, was notably free of human beings. It was also a very hard beginning and she is the only one of her siblings who grew to any semblance of adulthood. Raised by an often-absent mother (neglect may have played a part in the expiration of Abele's littermates), she grew up with a cool head for taking care of herself. Always her own leader, Abele struggled to make sense of many of her discoveries on her own and the world remains an occasionally confusing place—to her credit, the little monster always faces what comes with confidence despite her ignorance.
