Gus is everything that a salesman, or gentleman should be. He is kind, loyal, hardworking and humorous. That's just on the outside. There is no real way of describing Gus's relationships and personality, he is just perfectly flawed that no one can level him better than his best friend. This Labrador is nothing quite like his breed. He represents himself only, he is not quite identical to his bred standard, as most, he is unique in his own way. Even though his mum was a purebred champion, winning in all 46 states, he himself is a perfect exemplar of the breed- except for his personality.
Obedient x Hardworking.
Gus was raised into a very proud, sheltered family. At first, when Gus first met Shawn, they disproved of their friendship because they knew he was a bad influence. Gus is really an obedient child, who would do anything for his parents or loved ones, but over the years his and Shawn's bond has become very strong and he has learned to work hard for this friendship. It means the world to him, and he would do anything for his best friend. Well, except die, of course. Gus was brought up to be very hardworking, and that he is. He is dedicated to his job and loved ones, you will never see Gus wimp out on a job or assignment. Whatever his leader says, goes. Gus is a religious man, he was brought up so, but he hasn't quite convinced Shawn-yet. He has an amazing talent at keeping focused, something that most ADD Labradors cannot do. He will obey no matter what, unless there is a change of plans, you can count on him.
Strong willed x Fearful
Even though these two things are a bit the opposite, Gus is a very hard headed, strong willed canine. However, he is shy at first, but warms up immediately after Shawn does. Who is not shy. At all. Once you get to know him, he is very strong willed yet gentle, and when it comes to gross, dead bodies and such, Gus is kiddish and fearful. You will see those very different sides of him, depending on what relationship role you play in his life. He is easily embarrassed when around Shawn, that's because he is very sensitive to many things. Shawn would only know them, as he is the only person who would dare to discuss them. Occasionally Gus will be mislead, which happens a lot, but his strong willed nature gets the better of him and acts like a jerk. Sometimes. Gus is a very polite man, if your a pretty female, you might be surprised.
Player x Practical
Despite his (not so good) reputation with the ladies, Gus is a very strong ladies man who might, rarely, have tricks up his sleeve. Even though he's not a smooth as Shawn, Gus has his own sleek, black way of smuggling into your heart. He is very practical in what he does, even though that might not be the best thing, but, trust me, he is trust worthy and never does anything without a cause. Well, a good cause. He is very precise on what, when, how and why, four and five things that Shawn is not very talented at. They really do level each other out perfectly, creating a monstrous, ladies man talented machine. When Gus is not working, he can never cut loose, he is always up front and judgmental about things that he considers 'reality'. He was very sheltered as a child, and that has never proceeded to walk away now.
Loyal x Humorous
Laughter. That is one thing that you can count on when tailing behind these two buddies. They will always have that snarky, hilarious and epic move that will just catch you by surprise. They have been through everything together, so don't expect something less. Once you get to know Guster, he is a very loyal solider and will stand by your side no matter what. Even though he may seem fearful and might leave for a while, he will never turn his back on someone who he knows and needs his help. He has never been known to do such a thing to anyone close enough to him. Even in their bad days, Gus and Shawn will always make you smile. Gus has special sayings even Shawn doesn't know yet, they are both ticking time bombs just waiting to crack you up. They take their jobs very seriously, but even though he's practical, he's not heartless like some workaholics. Nothing makes work more entertaining and fun than some laughter and dances. Right?

History:
Gus was raised into a hardworking, proud family. He was one out of two siblings from his mother's litter, he had another sister, Joy, who for a while went on as becoming the top, number one Chocolate lab in American, now that her mother was retired. Joy's price was very high, but Gus's was a bit lower. Since he was the son of the top ranked lab, he went to a few shows, got his championship.
His mother's name was Winnie ('ch.V. Winstar's Vegas Lady's Trap), and Bill('ch. Willard's major move'). Both high ranked Labrador retrievers in the USA. When Gus didn't want the 'showbiz' type life, he wandered around for a while, found a cozy place off of California, in a city called Santa Barbara. There, he met Shawn, a crazy, hilarious collie mix and the two became friends. They had a rough season to start off with, seeing as Gus was more humble, gentle and calm, Shawn was cocky, self-seeking and hyper. Sure, they fought. His mom and dad advised him(many, many times) to stay away from him, as they thought he was bad influence. Which, he probably was at the time. But, hooked on each other's flaws, they became an impeccable team. Then, after the deathly dust bowl, decided to move west, in search of something new, something exciting to search after. And they landed here.
