Besides the fact that they had just killed an entire stag, the day was typically normal. Roscoe had barely gotten a few scrapes on his black nose, while Desoto had gotten the worst of it. You see, Desoto would sneak up on it from the Northeast side, and Roscoe would go on the Southwest side, then close in. Simple really..except this time the brute put up a fight; and now Desoto had giant scrape going on his paw to his chest. It looked like a cat scratch, but it wasn't really anything compared to what they had been through before.
Roscoe and Desoto were the town's worst fear.Well...they were. Until everyone packed up and left..they didn't have rabies, these nasty twins. Nah, they were just born that way. Roscoe padded quickly along the side of the road, Desoto by his side. Both of them were carrying their part of the meat, chewing slowly down on their meal. They were common criminals who got what they wanted. Neither of them really took notice at the collars still hanging around their neck, it was a lucky way of telling the two beasts apart.
Now, Desoto had wondered away from his brother for a while, just to scout out the area Roscoe and Desoto and Barbwire had chosen for their pack territories, and Desoto was just here to scare off anything that stood in their way. Which, was nothing, now. Desoto was almost finished when he heard some kind of crackling noise from in front of the saloon. Cocking his head a little, the large Doberman padded up to the front porch, his body tense and muscular frame alert, watching everything with intent interest.

Winter was tired and hot. The sun was beating down on her thick white fur and she panted heavily. just yesterday she broke away from her dear siblings to find food in the old town. She searched around the weird buildings that used to belonged to the almost furless creatures that walked on pale skinned two legs. They were called humans but Winter thought they didn't deserve such an intelligent name. She was snapped out of her deep thoughts when she stumbled over a porch, toppling over into the open house. Winter let out a small yelp and stood up, licking her bruised paws and then scanning the dark area with her dark brown eyes. It looked liked what people would call a salon, except more empty. Winter took a step forward and jumped back as the rotten floorboards creaked under her weight.
The scent of something juicy flowed through her nostrils and she sniffed deeply, sighing at the scent of an old steak. It wasn't that great but what else was she to eat? Winter shook out her dusty white fur and walked off swiftly into a back room. It looked likenthose silly humans left in behind. She picked the limp steak in her mouth and drooled at the thought of eating it. She trodded off and paused, noticing some strange figure outside. She stepped back and her heavy back left paw sent a piece of the fragile flooring crashing down. In panic she dropped the steak.
"Great."

She murmured to herself quietly. It was time to stop acting like a big coward and face whatever that was. [/div][/style]

Hearing that triggering noise of a canine, Desoto's action was to immediately barge in and see what was going on. In this case, however, he did just that. He had powerful instincts that drove his mind, creating a bad habit for the young Doberman. Padding quickly up the steps, Desoto blinked a few times before he had to relize what was going on. Well, for starters there was a young female German shepherd apparently stuck her foot in one of them loose steps, and beside her lay an old steak. Ears perking immediately, Desoto's body crunched up into a tigh muscular figure, and which he noted that she was a bit taller than him, tried to make himself taller. His ears flickered forwards, legs sturdy underneath him and his muscular figure tensing up for what was about to happen. "Hey there, dollface. Got yourself in a bit of a sticky situation?" he chuckled, his deep voice made a tiny echo in the small empty building.
Desoto's plan was to sneak over to her while sweet talking, grab the steak and make a run for it- possibly back to Roscoe and Barbwire to tell them the news. His sleek fur ws short and stubby, making it hard for Dobie's fur to bristle high, unlike the Aussie or German shepherd. He could tell she was becoming tense too, and probably didn't want him there either. Poor, poor chica. Maybe he should bring her back to Roscoe..? Nah, they'd probably just make her join their pack. Which, was reasonable, I mean seriously.. Desoto watched the white princess stumble, he assumed she was caught off guard, and, most were in here. Good thing he had eyes, huh? Ha! That was funny. Desoto's maw held a smirk planted on it until he received a reply from the female he would now call princessa'. This was goin to be good.

Winter spotted a strange Doberman walking in to the saloon. She cocked her head and stared at him with deep chocolate eyes. "You could say that, Shorty."
|
She retorted in a sharp growl, her voice also echoing around the empty room. Winter's thick white fur stood on end and a deep sense of annoyance filled her from ear to paw. The dog meant nothing but trouble. Winter caught him eyeing her steak so she stood up higher and growled. In her mind Winter was already planning an escape, it would be easy, this Doberman was tiny and alone. Wait, so was she. With a forced tug and a tiny yelp, Winter managed to get her leg free, tiny scratches going up her white paw and leg. Some scarlet drops trickled down but she ignored them and picked up her steak. The sweet aroma of it hit her nose once more and a deep passion to keep this meat burned inside her. "Now, if you'll excuse me Twinkle Toes, I have somewhere to be. Nice meeting you." Winter said politely, with the last sentence being sarcasm. She stepped forward and weaved around the Doberman, trying to head out into the open, under the blazing sun Suddenly, she didn't want to leave. [/div][/style]

Desoto felt an urge of electricity shoot through his body when the female called him shorty. Liar lair. She was the one who should feel ashamed and embarrassed, he was his regular height and weight- unlike this one. She was only a few inches taller than the brute, which in Desoto's case, it didn't matter how tall you were- it only mattered how you mouthed off and what kind of muscles you have. "Alright then, miss, we can play that way. So then, how's the weather up there, eh princessa?" he raised an eyebrow as she broke the board and pulled her leg up, Desoto eyed the red droplets that came shuddering down her ankle. She was completely faking it. That's what Desoto thought. He assumed a lot too. It was bad. Too bad Roscod wasn't here. He'd probably put on a good show for them, especially if Barbwire was here.
He needed to think of something else to fit this jerk chic if he was to win, and he knew exacty what he was going to do. Brilliant. Only one problem. She was leaving. Quick. Raising his left eyebrow, Desoto steppes sideways to let the white blur walk ahead ans out- well, it seemed she decided to be smart on this one. Good, good. Because he needed something to snap back at her with. "Oh, really? You make me laugh, princessa. The heat is only going to make you much more tired, then the eifel tower will fall down once again.." he laughed eagerly, the joke getting to him faster than it took the white shepherd to get. He could tell because he had said it in rut em to his thoughts, which were always like this...most of the time.

Winter turned to him, her fur bristling up and amusement shining in her eyes. "Well don't you have a smart mouth Fatzo. If I were you I would leave before my weight knocks me over."
|
She chuckled in a sweet voice. Her heart started to warm up. Winter always felt amazing in a good argument, especially with a great competitor like this short furred Doberman. "So Mr. Ego, what will you be doing today?" Winter grinned and muttered through the steak in her mouth. The juices flowed into her mouth and she blinked slowly, savoring the taste. The sun was starting to go down and it wasn't as safe to travel at night than day so without waiting for his reply she moved an elegant snowy paw forward and trotted off into the street, leaving behind a faint trail of paw prints in the loose dusty earth. When she passed Desoto, she flicked her fluffy tail under his chin lightly and smirked. Winter walked south and once out of view she let out a howl, clear enough for him to hear. "And nobody calls me Princessa, Tackypelt!" Then the sudden strong winds blocked out some other words [/div][/style]

Desoto smirked. He was the fat one? Ohh, okay then. He could play nice. Or he could play dirty. Either way, this white Shepherd was really driving his patience. "Ouh, I see what you're doing. Nice try, princessa." he watched her carefully, the heat was draining and now that winter was driving in, the dust bowl had set in, and hopefully it would snow- or get cold- something to make his fur stand up and get cooler in here. Following the white shepherd outside, Desoto almost sneezed when the fluffy tail wiped across his chin, the fur sticking to his chin as it passed by. Desoto heard her low growl, and made his own grunt in response.
Chuckling when she leaped off the deck, Desoto heard what sounded like a muffled cat language and something about the nickname Desoto had given her. "I'm sorry princessa, what was that you said? I couldn't hear you over that steak you've got stuffed up your mouth. And besides, I've never head a canine use feline language before." he laughed, raising an eyebrow at the white shepherd. He knew he was on her nerves, definitely, and that's what he liked best. He padded down towards her, slowing inching in, her paws lightly scraping the dusty ground underneath him. He could smell the steak, so juicy and...well...old...but he needed it. Actually, no he didn't. He just ate. But still..

Cat? No way! Winter rolled her chocolate brown eyes that sparkled in the sun that stared to sink behind the earth's curve. They were dotted with mischief and the urge to reply. Winter was holding in from letting out her best insult yet. She felt as if she were to explode, but if she dropped the steak to let them out, the guy would run faster than a Greyhound after a car and swipe it out from under her nose. She just smiled and thought, He's a clever boy. Wait... was that a compliment? Winter shuddered at the remark in her head, her thick white fur bristling and shaking along. I must be going soft. The statement made her freeze. That would be the worst thing to happen. She'd rather die than end up like a prissy poodle.
Winter sighed and bounded off in quick steps, the strong winds ruffling her fur back as she continued south. That Doberman better not follow her. What would Eclipse and Ginger think? Would Eclipse attack him? Would Ginger flirt with him? "Now that would be hilarious."
|
Winter chuckled to herself, hoping she didn't really sound like a feline. Gross! She hoped that the current in the humid air would blow her visible tracks away. [/div][/style]

Desoto leaned in, his ears perked and shoulders tight up against his chest and back, his lungs sucking in cold air. The female was definitely rocking her boat here, and not his. His was getting a little uncomfortable, knowing that the female was constantly going to snap back at his replies, and Desoto really didn't want to have a snappy battle today. Not with her, at least. He couldn't really tell whether she wanted him to follow or not. So, Desoto would make up his own following leader junk and decided to pad next to the white shepherd, his eye following the steak in her mouth. Speaking of steak, he was wondering if Roscoe would miss him if he left for a while, usually he didn't mind for a day or two, besides, Roscoe had other things on his mind at his time, like, the pack and, his new girl that he was hanging on to for a long amount of time, which was unusual. The Doberman's fur barely moved when the breeze came by, picking up the other canine's bushy fur, and passing his docked tail. Smirking, Desoto only shrugged and grinned halfway, raising his eyebrow at the white female. "Oh, yeah. And where are you going to, late for dinner?" he asked, smirking. Winter raised her brow and stopped, holding he shoulders back to make her chest puff out. Her wounded paw had finally started to sting like a thousand bees at her ankle and a small wooden splinter stuck out along with her snowy white fur. Winter's whiskers twitched in amusement. Her fluffy tail hit the ground as she sat on the dusty brown earth. Winter dropped the steak down gently but, put a strong paw over it protectively and if Desoto even eyes it Winter would let out a quiet growl.
Winter turned to the doberman. "Why? Do you want to make plans?"
|
She teased halfheartedly, batting her eyelashes to go along with the joke. Right now, she really just yearned to get back to her litter mates and share the steak. It was getting worse right now in the heat even though the time was almost dusk and the crescent moon faintly hung above the dogs' heads. The Dust Bowl was hot and sandy, almost like a desert but hopefully winter would come soon. Or was it already winter? The climate seemed hot and dry always. [/div][/style]

Desoto watched with interest as she dropped the steak, his maw drooling inside his mouth. Licking his chops quickly, Desoto shook his head and turned his attention elsewhere, his brown eyes gazing over the white figure that stood next to him, her brown eyes he could tell that she was watching him as well when she put her strong paw over the steak protectively, and with that Desoto stepped back, his ears flickering back to an owl hooting in the background. Snorting, Desoto nodded his head slowly, in the ways that horses to occasionally. "Well.....if you are that lonely, I'm sure my schedule will be able to fit you in." he snorted, raising an eyebrow at the shepherd. Was she seriously asking Desoto out? The Doberman couldn't believe his ears.
The Doberman gently shifted weight between his two muscular legs and held his head higher when she German shepherd puffed her chest out, she seemed to be trying to make Desoto intimidated by her taller appearance. Bull! Desoto was the tough guy here, and so that was final word. For him. Desoto stopped as she did, his muscles tensing as her fur puffed, the white ness of her fur was just to bright man, just too bright for the black guy's taste. Speaking of taste, Desoto flapped out his tongue like he was eating peanut butter, the name of that song getting on his nerves. "You remind me of a song, girl, that one about 'call me maybe'. That one?" he smirked, nudging her side ribs gently. Desoto didn't want to get to pushy, or else it would turn into a fist fight, he just knew it.

Winter watched the dog drool over her tender steak. Did he really want it that bad? The looked well fed and muscular, plus she and her brother and sister were hungry enough. She watched the male step back and flick his ears as an owl hooted in the distance. Another sign of night time. Winter had learned owls and other animals slept in the day and awoke at night. They were called nocturnal. Her own ears pricked up to let in more sounds. Some dust was swished back and forth in the wind a little ways off and paw steps sounded in the west but Winter ignored them. She rolled her eyes in annoyance at the arrogant male and answered, "Even if I was lonely I'd rather spend my evening with a pile of dirt."
|
Winter teased in a high bark. She crouched down, her sleek muscles rippling under her pelt as she bunched her haunches, preparing to jump back. Winter watched with curious eyes as his muscles tensed and that is why she was to do so. Then, when he made a face like her was pretending to lap up peanut butter, Winter couldn't help but try to hold back a slight giggle but, it pushed its way through. Winter stopped and listened to the Doberman's comment. "Really? Why out of all the songs we dogs know you choose my least favorite, Stubbytail?" Before Winter could carry on the Doberman nudged her in the ribs gently but that's all it took. Her front paw slipped off the tender slippery meat and her back leg could not support most of her, being wounded and having a splinter inside. She fell on her side and gasped as the wind got knocked out of her. [/div][/style]

"Ouuhh, that's nasty bite there, princessa." Desoto retorted halfheartedly, his mind elsewhere now. She had practically just asked him to come with her, and now she had bit off his head like he had said something gross. Well, okay, the idea of dating this chick had grossed him out, but still he was the world's hottest bachelor, and he only flirted with the hottest bacheloretts. Only. Occasionally, he would play around with this kind of girl, and not with the little yippy dogs, like that corgi Jezebel that had caused a whole scene that Roscoe and Desoto had gotten into when they had first come here and made it their permanent home, so they considered it a late welcoming party. And really, they couldn've beaten up that wimpy old daddy like dog would controlled the little female's life.
"Well, how was i supposed to-" Desoto was suddenly stopped when his little nudge had pushed the white figure over, the giant toppled over onto the ground and the paw was yanked loose from the steak sitting in front of Desoto, calling him eagerly with its big, tender smells....but... by the way the mutt was in, she looked like she needed it more than he did, and this time he would regret his moves, he knew he would. Groaning on the inside, Desoto shook his pelt, knelt down to grab the steak in his jaws, and the toss it over to where she had fallen with a flick of his head. His paw was picked up by the jerk of his neck, suddenly his muslces loosened and he did a fancy footwork as he padded pass her, looking over his shoulder in such a gentle-man like way. "Consider it a truce, from your very own, princessa." he ended, and started to walk slowly off, half hoping she would catch up with him sooner or later.

Winter yelped in pain. Her leg felt like it was on fire and the blood that cracked in scabby patches opened up spilling out and dotting the dust like sprinkles on a cookie. Winter snarled, baring her flashing white teeth. She turned her head and bit down hard on the splinter but, careful to not break it in her jaws or have it splinter into her pink gums. The wood let out a creak and Winter howled in pain as the splinter slid out of her leg and out into the dusty earth she lay on. Fighting the immense pain coursing through her leg like fire, Winter lightly licked herself, washing the blood out. She turned in shock as the Doberman picked up her steak. Winter was about to yell no when he tossed it beside her. Winter sat, wide eyed as he walked away. Maybe she misunderstood him. The flowing of blood stopped and dried after a couple licks and the swelling blocked most of it from coming through as she sprang up and snapped the meat in her jaws. "Where is he going?"
|
Winter pondered aloud in a negative tone. Should she follow him? Winter followed on powerful legs, except one which made her lag behind. She didn't speak at all. Winter walked about a few tail-lengths behind him, panting with the steak in her mouth. Night had come and Ginger would be worried but where else could Winter go right now? It wouldn't be safe for a wounded dog to travel alone. To Winter herself, only her pride was hurt. [/div][/style]

Deciding not to look around him, Desoto had emotionally left her hanging and was now on his way to Roscoe and Barbie, as so he had nicknamed her. He knew she didn't like it, but that's what came to his mind immediately running towards something to do before he met up with them, maybe someone else he could run into before the day was over? Hopefully. Desoto could hear the white female whining with pain or whatever she was doing, so his regret of stealing the steak had gone down to about level 3, but before then it had been level 100. eh, it would be his good deed of the year. Yeah, that sounded about right. But when he heard her mutter something, his ears swiveled around in its hinges and listened more carefully to the pitter patter of paws behind him. Yes!
Desoto was happy now, the girl had decided to follow him but not too close, which was understandable- after all, he had just done something nice to her for her snappy attitude towards him. Pretending not to care, Desoto lifted his head a little higher and slowed his pace, his feet slowly catching up with the white one. She had a cut down her leg, closer to her ankle but Desoto figured a big girl like her could take care of herself. "So princessa, where are you staying tonight? You have family in town?" he asked, watching her with interest. "Speech"
